Blogmas Day 7 is a day for another buddy read review! Jamsu and I continued our read (well re-read for her) of the Plated Prisoner series by Raven Kennedy. Glint is the second book in the now 6 book series, and it was very much giving second book vibes.

This was very much a filler book I’m afraid, but slowly and surely we are finally getting somewhere within the plot and with the main romance of the story! With the absence of our main love interest until the end of the first book, I was afraid we weren’t going to get much within the second; but much to my surprise we finally get to see the budding relationship of Auren and Rip begin here in Glint!
Glint offers use mutli POV moments, and different perspectives of the politics and magic system within the world that Kennedy has created. Auren just so happens to be smack dab in the middle of everything. But honestly, even with all of this–the most we got is character development as the plot barely (if at all) moved. We reached a stagnant spot in the plot for the sake of character investment and growth. I didn’t mind it all that much as I read this one mostly via audiobook, but after the wild ending of Gild I was really wishing for a bit more action and drama from this sophomore book.
With that said though, we got some movement in the last one hundred pages and with a promise from Jamsu that things start to heat up (both romantically and plot wise) in the next book, Gleam, I’m curious to see what all happens and if my theories prove correct.
