#1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole enraptures again with this seductive tale of a fierce werewolf prince who will stop at nothing to protect the lovely archer he covets from afar.
A DANGEROUS BEAUTY…
Lucia the Huntress: as mysterious as she is exquisite, she harbors secrets that threaten to destroy her — and those she loves.
AN UNCONTROLLABLE NEED…
Garreth MacRieve, Prince of the Lykae: the brutal Highland warrior who burns to finally claim this maddeningly sensual creature as his own.
THAT LEAD TO A PLEASURE SO WICKED….
From the shadows, Garreth has long watched over Lucia. Now, the only way to keep the proud huntress safe from harm is to convince her to accept him as her guardian. To do this, Garreth will ruthlessly exploit Lucia’s greatest weakness — her wanton desire for him.
“Fate has a way of getting what she wants, no matter how we try to avoid it.”
Ah the sweet sounds of a Lykae howling for his mate. We are officially back to another werewolf story in Kresley Cole’s captivating Immortals After Dark series! Pleasure of A Dark Prince, tells the much awaited tale of Valkyrie, Lucia the Huntress, and our very own prince of Lykae–Garreth.
If you remember from the first novel (A Hunger Like No Other), we left Garreth holding up Val Hall–bless his heart. Ever since then I’ve been itching to see what is to come of our great Garreth and who his fated mate was. This book was more than I could imagine and I had an absolute field day flying through this ‘roadtrip-esque’ romance!
From the start my interest in Lucia has always been piqued, her ability of archery is the best in the Lore and she is known to never ever miss a target. Though when she does, she is brought to her knees in unspeakable agony. Lucia’s backstory is probably one of my favorites so far in the Lore world. Her young dreams of love and then impending betrayal of that love made for a different side of the Valkyries we haven’t really seen, and I loved exploring that with Lucia and Regin.
“If I have to scour the entire earth, I’ll hunt her down. I will no’ falter. One day I will bring my female back to my home – back to my bed…She was born to be found by me.”
Cole takes us deep into the Amazonian river in a Tomb Raider inspired adventure, where for the first time we get to watch Loreans interact with humans as they are brought along for the ride. I loved watching Garreth fall for Lucia and vice versa, as well as getting to know what really happened to the Lykae after Lachlain’s disappearance.
Honestly the only thing that really bugged me in this story was the fact that a good chunk of the beginning was re-hashing what we’ve read before (just from Lucia and/or Garreth’s perspective). Which this isn’t the books fault as I’m reading these back to back so the overarching storyline is still fresh in my mind, where as these stories have been published with years in between them (which if I wasn’t a procrastinating queen, I would definitely not have minded the refresher course!).
I loved the plot and never exactly knowing how Kresley will wrap things up because with every book I am always sitting on the edge of my bed screaming “there is not enough pages to get an HEA” and like always I am forced to put on my clown mask, because Kresley Cole is the literal queen and I need to learn to just trust her to get us there—because she always will.
