Grab your fan and hold your pearls, because Kresley Cole did not come to play with Dark Needs At Night’s Edge. A Vampire and Ghost romance that we never knew we needed. Riddled with seductive chemistry and a level of sexual tension that not even my e-reader or Scribd account could handle, Conrad and Neomi really said “Hold my beer”.

Bestselling author Kresley Cole continues her seductive Immortals After Dark series with this tale of a vampire shunned even by his own kind and a beautiful phantom, bound together by a passion they cannot resist.
A RAVEN-HAIRED TEMPTRESS OF THE DARK…
Néomi Laress, a famous ballerina from a past century, became a phantom the night she was murdered. Imbued with otherworldly powers but invisible to the living, she haunts her beloved home, scaring away trespassers — until she encounters a ruthless immortal even more terrifying than Néomi herself.
A VAMPIRE WARRIOR CONSUMED BY MADNESS…
To prevent him from harming others, Conrad Wroth’s brothers imprison him in an abandoned manor. But there, a female only he can see seems determined to drive him further into madness. The exquisite creature torments him with desire, leaving his body racked with lust and his soul torn as he finds himself coveting her for his own.
HOW FAR WILL HE GO TO CLAIM HER?
Yet even if Conrad can win Néomi, evil still surrounds her. Once he returns to the brutality of his past to protect her, will he succumb to the dark needs seething inside him?
“People think happiness will simply fall into their laps. You have to aspire to it. And sometimes you have to seize it when it’s kicking and screaming.”
If this isn’t the perfect example of how to get lady blue balls, then I don’t know what is. This book by proxy is SWIMMING in sexual tension like you would not believe. Dark Needs At Night’s Edge is the fourth book in the ongoing Immortals After Dark series and we finally get to see the infamous Conrad Wroth succumb to his own fated mate–unfortunately his bride is…well out of reach.
Ya’ll I honestly had so much fun reading this book. Neomi and Conrad was a complete hoot to read. Neomi is our first ghost in the series and she is trapped in the house she was murdered in 80-ish years ago; a ballerina forever in her prime, Neomi was enthralling from the first moment she came onto the page. I loved her ingenuity and determination to live her life even when it ceased. Conrad is crazed when his brothers hold him prisoner at Neomi’s abandoned home; going through blood withdrawal and seeing the memories of those he has killed, he is at his whits end.
It was so much fun watching these two meet each other and learn from one another. I took an increased level of pleasure watching their relationship grow in the absence of touch. Seeing this different aspect of intimacy between a hero and heroine for majority of the book was such a rush and a level of freshness that I couldn’t get enough of it. Plus who knew verbal foreplay was so hot?!
One of the sweetest and hottest books in the series so far (Bowen is still my favorite book though); Dark Needs At Night’s Edge is a prime example of a great vampire romance. Writhing with sexual tension and a chemistry so strong only the fates could rival it; I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone looking for a solid PNR vampire romance where you never know exactly how things will end.
