Another Friday and another buddy read review! Jamsu and I are neck deep in the Lux series with only two more books to go in the main series, so we decided to segway a bit this week and read the standalone spin-off, Obsession.

Not gonna lie, I’m not wholly attached to the Arum, though I loved Hunter and his backstory, I find myself more of a Luxian girl through and through (#teamdaemon). Obsession is all about Hunter, who if you have read the Lux series–is the Arum we meet in Origin; and Serena, a human who knows a little too much.
Hunter and Serena’s chemistry throughout the entirety of this was a highlight for me, and its very much an Armentrout signature relationship. I loved getting to watch Hunter grow into this person that cares about another person. Just like with any good conflict, there are always two sides to every story and it was so interesting to finally get a chance to see the Arum side to the whole alien war debacle we’ve seen throughout the Lux series so far.
Obsession was a breath of fresh air and a palette cleanser before jumping back into the action of the main series, and honestly it just made me that more excited to relive Katy and Deamon’s story that much more.
