My Daemon and Katy era has officially been revived! Moving forward in our Buddy read, Jamsu over at Jamsudreams and I take the Luxian by storm, with the first book in the Lux series– Obsidian. Probably one of my favorite PNR re-reads this year.

Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring… until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
“Beautiful face. Beautiful body. Horrible attitude. It was the holy trinity of hot boys.”
This story has a special place in my heart and I am so beyond happy to be able to revisit this world with Jamsu this month! Obsidian is the first book in Jennifer L. Armentrout’s famous YA Paranormal Romance series, and honestly it’s a time and a half. Packed full with JLA’s signature snark and sass and some great world building–this one just gets better and better with every read I do.
Daemon has sworn off humans after the tragedy of his brother (see Shadows review!) and Bethany, deeming them the worst things to happen to his kind (excluding the Arum because ew). But as the age old saying goes– we make plans and god laughs– his new next door neighbor is none other than Katy Swartz, and he can’t seem to look away. Katy is just trying to adjust as her mother uproots her from her Florida life after the passing of Katy’s father. But she’s in for a treat when the girl next door, Dee, wants to be friends, but her brother (Daemon) rather gets his skin flayed on live television than for that to happen. Too bad fate has other ideas.
This story was everything I needed and more. Katy and Daemon were electrifying and I found myself falling back into step with everything and everyone like I never left the world to begin with. The chemistry between each character and the naturalness of the pacing and flow is just chef kisses. There isn’t one bad thing I can say about this book except that I need the next installment in my brain this instant!
I’m excited to watch Katy and Daemon grow together and individually in these next books, and even more excited to relive all the fun and glorious moments in between!
