Sure Shot (Brooklyn #4) by Sarina Bowen
Publisher: Independently Published
Publication Date: May 12th 2020
A new stand-alone hockey romance from USA Today bestseller Sarina Bowen.
On the eve of her thirtieth birthday, sports agent Bess Beringer is ready to make some changes. Armed with a five-year plan—indexed and color coded—she’ll tackle her personal life with the same zeal that she brings to her successful agency.
A big, tall, ripped hunk of hockey player who’s just been traded to the Brooklyn Bruisers is not a part of that plan. Mark “Tank” Tankiewicz has a lot of baggage. He’s a ride-or-die loner with a bad reputation. He’s on the rebound. He’s also the sexiest thing on two legs, and for some crazy reason it’s Bess that he wants.
She knows better. But then she falls stupid in love with him anyway. And for a while it seems like maybe he’ll do the same.
Until she asks him for the one thing he can never give her…

“Bess makes me hungry again. Not for steak and ice cream, but for life.”
Y’all I can’t get enough of this book. Bowen’s hockey series totally stole my heart (If you haven’t read Brooklynaire you should get on that immediately!) and so after hearing that Sure Shot was going to be a crossover to her True North series—I had to waddle over. And honestly I am so glad I did.
Bess and Tank had me swooning from the get-go. I loved watching their chemistry unfold from start to finish as we got to know the characters more deeply as individuals and even more so as a couple. Tank was probably my favorite character in the story to read—solely because of how in depth and thought out he was. His storyline and “bad boy teddy bear” personality had me high key rooting for him to find love again.
With all of Bowen’s stories, we get serious topics and issues interwoven into the plot and each character that makes everything feel more real and pushes the plot forward in a way that nothing else can. The character growth we see with both the main characters and the supporting cast had my inner writer doing the splits while waiving my pom poms in the air.
Overall, this is honestly Bowen at her finest. The depth of each character alone is enough for me to recommend this story to anyone wanting a hockey romance with an extra dollop of steam.
Huge thank you to Sarina Bowen for sending me an ARC for my honest review! Quotations taken from an uncorrected proof and may change upon final publication.
