Happy Sunday Storytellers! Summer is just starting to heat up and it’s nothing like a hot summer day to make you want to cool down at the cinema and see an action packed film while sipping on a large ICEE. August is a promise of that, based of these new releases set to debut in the hottest month here in Texas; and I am honestly pretty stoked for these film prospects!
So without further ado, grab your calendars and some popcorn and look at all the excited films to grace our cinema’s this July!
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (August 2nd)
Genre: Action, Adventure
Rated: PG-13
Directed: David Leitch
Starring: Vanessa Kirby, Dwayne Johnson, Eiza González, Jason Statham
Lawman Luke Hobbs and outcast Deckard Shaw form an unlikely alliance when a cyber-genetically enhanced villain threatens the future of humanity.
I am trash for this franchise so I will see it through to the end. Plus, give me a movie with handsome Rob any day and ya girl will go watch it with or without a reason.
Where’d You Go, Bernadette (August 16th)
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Mystery
Rated: PG-13
Directed: Richard Linklater
Starring: Cate Blanchett, Judy Greer, Kristen Wiig, Billy Crudup
A loving mom becomes compelled to reconnect with her creative passions after years of sacrificing herself for her family. Her leap of faith takes her on an epic adventure that jump-starts her life and leads to her triumphant rediscovery.
This film is based off a novel of the same name by Maria Semple, one of which that has been on my TBR pile for quite some time now! I am really interested in all things adaptions–especially when it’s books-to-film– so hopefully I will be able to read the book before it’s release!
Angel Has Fallen (August 23rd)
Genre: Action
Rated: R
Directed: Ric Roman Waugh
Starring: Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman, Piper Perabo, Jada Pinkett Smith
Secret Service Agent Mike Banning is framed for the attempted assassination of the President and must evade his own agency and the FBI as he tries to uncover the real threat.
I didn’t even realize this was a thing, until I begun my monthly search for new movies to watch. As you can see, I am a little to excited to see how Banning will save the day in this new installment.
*starts chanting* Gerald Butler. Gerald Butler. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ lovely list Sam!
*hands you some pom poms*
*takes them and continues chanting*
I’m familiar to some of it, but I’m not excited to see them. But, if someone would ask me to watch it, maybe I will go with them. 😁
I hope you find some this august that you are excited to see!
Actually, I’m currently not updated on what movies are releasing this year. 😬
How fortunate that Sam told you about the movies that come out in August in this post 😉
