THE SPRING HAS SPRUNG BOOK TAG

I was supposed to post my review for That Kind of Guy by Talia Hibbert today, but I’m still in the thick of it (hoping to finish it before noon! So expect my review to go up tomorrow!) so instead I thought it was only fitting to do a book tag from the amazing Destiny @ Howling Libraries who recommended Talia’s work to me a thousand times over! Thank you for tagging me in this Destiny as well as shoving Talia’s work my way!

1. F L 🌺 W E R S | look on your bookshelves. what is the most beautiful book both inside and out?

GoldenI feel like I says this every time I come across a question like this, but YOLO. Golden by Jessie Kirby is literally a stunning novel that captured my heart with both it’s cover and the story within the shimmering pages.

2. G R A S S 🌾 | what is a book that you find others like way more than you do?

City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments, #3)The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. I feel like this is a high key unpopular opinion but I honestly don’t get the hype. Mind you though, I have only gotten to the fourth book, so it could be explosive later on in the series, but as of right now I can’t relate to the love.

3. ☔ R A I N | what’s a great book that lifts your spirits when you’re down?

Can't Text ThisI can feel all of you thinking to yourself “she is going to say Twilight” , and if you are you would be…WRONG. HA. I am jumping ship and going off brand and choosing the Texting series (because I literally can’t choose just one great book) by Teagan Hunter. This is a romantic comedy that is mainly told through–you guessed it–texting. Whenever I am down or just depressed, I like to flip through my favorite parts of this series, and without a doubt Hunter’s work ALWAYS gets me smiling and feeling better.

4. D E W 💧 | what’s a book that made you feel alive?

This Mortal Coil (This Mortal Coil #1)This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada. You can click on the title to read my review for it, but hot damn was that story a complete roller coaster that made me feel all the things. It had been a long time that a book of that caliber made me feel some type of way, and wow–I was feeling A LOT of things.

5. S T 🌩 R M S | what’s a book that you found unpredictable?

It’s pretty hard to throw a twist on me that I don’t see coming. I have been told I have a sixth sense for plot twists, so this question is a tad harder to answer….yeah I don’t have one. But let me know in the comments of any books you think will throw me off my game!

6. R A I N B 🌈 W | what was a book that you struggled with, only to be happy that you read it in the end?

Outlander (Outlander #1)Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I think it’s common knowledge here on the blog that I do not like Historical Fiction. I have a problem relating to the characters, and I get upset like offset at how POC are treated with the authors using the lame ass excuse “its historically accurate”–yeah fam, it’s a no from me. Anyway, I took the plunge with Outlander when I was bored and unemployed after graduated and though it was a struggle to get through (praise the gods for audiobooks) I actually really fell in love with the story.

I know I am shocked too.

7. C H I L L Y ❄ W E A T H E R | what’s a book you couldn’t finish or didn’t enjoy?

Smitten by the Brit (Sometimes in Love, #2)The most recent DNF for me was Smitten by The Brit by Melonie Johnson. I honestly think, based off of other reviews I’ve seen for this new series–that this could just be a case of wrong reader. I had a lot of problems with the style and plot, which if you click on the title you can read my mini-review for it, but yeah…not a fun time I had with this puppy.

8. W A R M 🌞 W E A T H E R | what’s a book that you loved and wanted more of?

The Wall of Winnipeg and MeThe Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata! I stay needing more Aiden and Vanessa time! Literally I would squeal and cry tears of joy if Zapata ever decides to write and release a short story of them just picking up groceries or taking out the trash.

I am literally trash for this couple. It’s fine.

9. G R E E N 💚 | what’s a book you haven’t read yet, but really want to?

Carry On (Simon Snow, #1)HA! Everything! But since I have to choose I think I will pick a back list read instead of an anticipated release, and for that I think I am going to choose Carry On by Rainbow Rowell! I really want to read this bad boy because I absolutely adored Fangirl and the snippets we got of Snow and Baz within that novel, so I am hoping to get to this before the next installment releases!

10. P 💗 N K | what’s a book in which you felt a strong connection to the characters?

A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2)A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas. I need not say anything more.

  1. What a cool idea! I love it. I am with you on Outlander to the point of not being into it. I DID read the first one, but honestly, it didn’t make me want to read more. I will stick with Game of Thrones.

I am with you on Rowell’s new book. I love her others!

  2. I’m so happy Outlander managed to get under your ‘non-historical fiction’ skin! I loved this book and I’m so happy you fell in love with the story too! Love the tag!

  3. I used to LOVE The Mortal Instruments but after re-reading I actually agree that it’s a little over hyped. You need to read Carry On like right now. Snowbaz is amazing and I know people compare it to Harry Potter but I actually enjoyed reading Carry On.

  4. I LOVEEE Outlander (the show) but I can see how it can get hard to get into right away, especially with how POC/black people were treated. Mortal instruments is one of my faves so you not getting the hype breaks my heart a little bit because it’s so damn good! Watch the show and the movie and maybe you’ll understand more? idk lol

  5. it probably says something about me that the grass emoji gave me a Pavlovian itch response 😂 allergies are meanies. (btw, City of Fallen Angels is hands-down the worst in the series imo. I thought 5 and 6 were the best, followed by 3 … but I’m definitely biased due to a certain character I like way too much 😶)

also omg PLEASE READ CARRY ON ASAP IT IS THE CUTEST THING. and Wayward Son is coming out so soon. jump on the bandwagon. do it.

  6. Love your answers! Carry On is one of my absolute favourites, can’t wait for Wayward Sons 😍 Also have you read And Then There Were None? Because I’m pretty sure that will throw you off your game!

    1. Thank you! Honestly, I think the watching the cringe of the adaptions made me not like the books as much as I did before hand. But I am determined to power through so fingers crossed my mind changes. lmao

AND YES YOU DO NEED TO CONTINUE BECAUSE THAT WHOLE SERIES IS A BOP AND A HALF
