The Goodreads Tag
Happy Wednesday Storytellers! I’m going to be real honest and blunt with you today fam–this was not the post scheduled for today. I am going through a serious case of the Reading Slumps this month and have been struggling to get through books like you would not believe (well you probably could believe if you have been in a slump before–a mood).
I was set to post a review today, but because of my slump I have yet to finish the book (truly a time here at Fictionally Sam) I was supposed to review, so instead you beautiful and magnificent aficionados of storytelling will be getting a good ol’ tag from ya girl.
Because why not.
I was tagged by the amazing Isabelle @ Bookwrym Bites, (THANK YOU!) if you haven’t already waddled to her blog, please go ahead and leave this post (make sure to come back though cause I’m funny and you love me) and go have your life blessed by her content! Seriously she is a 10/10 would recommend. You shan’t regret it!
WHAT IS THE LAST BOOK YOU MARKED AS READ?
The last book I marked as read on Goodreads was Advice From A Jilted Bride by Piper Rayne, which I gave 4.5 swooning stars too! If you want to see my thoughts on it, click on the book title!
WHAT IS THE LAST BOOK YOU MARKED AS “TBR”?
The last book I marked as “Want To Read” is Going Off Script by Jen Wilde. I absolutely loved her previous novel Queens of Geek and a film lover I completely fell in love with the synopsis (plus it has LGBTQIA+ rep with the main characters!). It releases in May and I can’t wait to get my contemporary loving grubby hands on it!
WHAT BOOK DO YOU PLAN TO READ NEXT?
The next book I plan on tackling is Meet Cute by Helena Hunting! A contemporary enemies to lovers romance with some drama thrown in. What more can I ask for?
DO YOU USE THE STAR RATING SYSTEM?
I do! I actually really enjoy the star rating system (albeit flawed). Personally, I generally participate in the half star rating system, but as Goodreads doesn’t believe in the half star rating for its users, I usually round. So for example:
If I rate a book 3.5 stars, I would then assess on goodreads how much I loved it, If I really enjoyed the book and the reason I gave it the half star was from a technicality then I usually will round-up to 4 stars with a notation in my review that I actually gave it a 3.5. If I did enjoy the book but I really can’t get past the flaw that gave it a half star, I typically round down to a 3 star with the notation in my review that I actually gave it a 3.5.
Does that make sense?
As you can see, rounding is my friend when on Goodreads!
ARE YOU DOING THE 2019 READING CHALLENGE?
I AM! I have been participating since I joined Goodreads many moons ago (a time). I am a very competitive person internally, so I like to challenge myself every year and I love that goodreads gives me a chance to track it! Plus I am a slut for data and GR comes through with the data with the reading challenge.
DO YOU HAVE A WISHLIST?
I don’t because no one has ever wanted me to make one before…? Lemme know if that theory of thought has changed though!
WHICH BOOK DO YOU PLAN ON BUYING NEXT?
My Next buy is a pre-order of Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff because I suck at getting my life together and I am super picky with where I want to pre-order from as so many different places have different and exciting exclusives and editions!
DO YOU HAVE ANY FAVORITE QUOTES? SHARE A FEW!
It has to be said, I’m trash for quotes. In College, my wardrobe door was dubbed the quote wall because I had layers on layers of bookish quotes taped on it. Here are a few that were on there and a few that I have plans to hang on my wall in my room currently!
“The day my internet was hooked up was better than having a hot guy check out my butt and ask for my phone number.”
Jennifer L. Armentrout, Obsidian
“God, his chin. She wanted to make an honest woman of his chin. She wanted to lock it down.”
“Patch wasn’t the kind of guy mothers smiled on. He was the kind of guy they changed the house locks for.”
Becca Fitzpatrick,Hush, Hush
“There is not one of me–I am no single voice in the darkness. I am a chorus. A symphony of code and violence, driving a knife into each of their hearts.”
Emily Suvada, This Cruel Design
WHO ARE YOUR FAVORITE AUTHORS? SHARE A FEW!
Thank you for including the words “share a few” cause ya girl simply does not have one favorite author! Some of the faves are listed below!
|Mariana Zapata||Jennifer L. Armentrout|
|Emily Suvada||Piper Rayne|
|John Green||Angie Thomas|
|Stephanie Meyer||William Shakespeare|
|Sarah J. Maas||Amie Kaufman|
HAVE YOU JOINED ANY GROUPS?
I have though I am not really that much involved/active with them as I was previously! I am apart of four different groups: Booktubers on Goodreads, Top 5 Wednesday, Booktube, and Unexpected Readathon Time. (you can click on each of these titles to be taken to the group page!)
and YOU! If you wanna do this tag, consider yourself tagged by me! 😘
