BOOKENDING AUTUMN 2019: NIGHT FILM BOOK TAG

Happy Halloween Storytellers! Today is officially our last day here for Bookending Autumn and I cannot believe that October is about done. This has been one of the most fun events we’ve run here at Bookend Events and at Fictionally Sam, and I am so incredibly grateful to each and everyone of you who have participated in these events, done prompts, made your own posts, and reached out and interacted with other bloggers during this event.

Huge shout out to our lovely hosts of which none of this would have been possible! Thank you for your time, your energy and your amazing creativity during these last few months. You are all 10/10 would recommend gems! ♥️

Today is my last day here as host, and I thought we’d end on a classic note (wink wink). But before we get into the goodness, some Bookend Events announcements!

Interested in becoming a host? Well you are in luck! Host Sign ups for our next event (Bookending Winter) just went live! Those interested will have until November 3rd, 2019 to apply! You can catch all the details here:

If you don’t know what Bookending Autumn is, its a month long event in October that was created by myself and Clo @ Cuppa Clo where we aspire to bring the bookish community closer together through the platform we love the most–blogging! Each day we have different prompts from different hosts that participants can replicate! I am wickedly excited to check out everyone’s posts and prompts as we get more into the month as our hosts this year are dishing out quality content! You can catch me smiling from ear to ear as I get to meet all of you on your blogs and on our Twitter (@bookend_events if you haven’t followed, you totally should!) page!

Also don’t forget that we have a blog hopping masterlist! The list features all of our participants and those who are participating in Bookending Autumn can put their post links next to their name for easy blog hopping! Can’t wait to see all your amazing posts! And with that, let’s get into today’s prompt!

-TODAY’S PROMPT-

Night Film Book Tag

An Original Book Tag based off of classic Halloween films

1

Rules:

  • Answer the prompts.
  • Tag some friends.
  • Link back to this post, and be sure to mention the creator (Sam @ Fictionally Sam)
  • Have fun!

Hocus Pocus – A character you wished lived on for forever

Without a doubt I would totally choose Thomas Cresswell from Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco. Sassy, beautiful, and handsomely devilish– I need him to never die and continue to spread his great to the world for forever and ever. We must protect Thomas at all costs folks!

Scream – A book that was hilariously scary

Horrorstor by Grady Hendrix, told in the format of an Ikea catalogue, you think it’s all fun and games until you realize shit happens at night in Ikea…scary shit (also there is a sale on rugs…no seriously).

Coraline – A fictional world you wished you lived in

There are so many that I wish I could cozy on into, but I think my safe bet would be Velaris in the Night Court. There is just something about that city that always has me smiling when I think about–maybe because its a city for dreamers and like calls to like.

Halloweentown – Name a book that is full of magic!

I am going to take a cop out and say the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling, soley because I honestly can’t think of any of my magical books off the top of my head, and my shelves are doing me no favors.

The Nightmare Before Christmas – A book you read during the wrong season

I will forever be reading Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury in the dead as heat of the spring/summer nights. I don’t think I have ever read that book during the spooky season or winter. Always spring and summer. A time.

Beetlejuice – Name a character that haunts you

Lachlan Agatta from This Mortal Coil series by Emily Suvada. Everytime shit happens, I am constantly brought back to the thought of “this is something Lachlan would do–I feel it.” After that, I would begin waddling to find a computer to hack my genetics. I’m telling you family, this man is EVERYWHERE. TMC IS EVERYWHERE.

Rocky Horror Picture Show – A book that you think would be better as a musical

Okay, I think I had way to much fun with this question because if you don’t know me by now, let me tell you–I LIVE and BREATHE musicals. Theatre is my life and my second home. After much diliberation and thoughts of potential power ballads, I think I would have to go with Crazy Rich Asains by Kevin Kwan. I didn’t love it as a novel, but I did love the film so much more (I know shocker) so can you picture what it would be like if it was a musical!? My heart just skipped a beat I think.

Edward Scissorhands – A story you wish you could cut up

This Is Not A Love Scene by M.C. Segale. You can read my full review here, but that is a book I wish I could cut up and cut out of my brain.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown – A book that reminds you of your childhood

Nancy Drew series! Forever will associate my childhood with those because my mom always tried to force me to read them growing up. That and Little House on The Prairie. A time truly.

Ghostbusters –  A book with a catchy tagline

Ignite Me (Shatter Me, #3)Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi

“Fear will learn to fear me”

YES QUEEN, YES.

Yess!! I love this tag!! Always bring the movies on – especially since I finally WATCHED Hocus Pocus this month and am a total fan after that! I recently read Crazy Rich Asians as a book and I did also enjoy the book more. And it would be way cool to see it as a musical!
