Welcome to this first non buddy read review in a hot minute! I read the absolutely cutest story and figured it was high time I gushed about a monster romance here on the blog. I’ve been leaning heavily into my fantasy / alien / monster romance era lately, and Tentacles and Triathlons was the cherry to the monster romance pie!

Leviathan Fitness is the favorite place of monsters, muscles, and a tentacled creature who can seduce even the hardest to win over human.
When parks department supervisor Reece Rollins decides to sign up for a triathlon– there are two things holding him back. One, his fear of monsters. Two, his sub-par swimming skills.
At the urging of his sister’s wolven mate, Reece joins Leviathan Fitness to train in the gym’s olympic size swimming pool. After running into Reece at the pool, Cyrus offers to help Reece get ready to win the race.
New feelings arise from the depths as Reece and Cyrus learn that monsters and humans go together, tentacle in hand. The only question is- can these two hold on to their new found love despite their differences?
Tentacles & Triathlons is book two in the Leviathan Fitness series. Each book will center around the gym and feature a different monster pairing.
“Fought with my trainer. Kissed him. Got tentacle fucked. You know, a typical Wednesday. Nothing too crazy.”
This story is probably the most adorable and sweet monster romance I have ever read. Tentacles and Triathlons is very much a low angst MM romance, where my heart swooned and my brain started looking up prices for the gym.
Cyrus is a kraken who finds his mate in Reese, a human who after a bad run-in with a monster at a young age, has a huge aversion and prejudice against monsters. But Reese’s sister is marrying Cyrus’ best friend, and in order to lower the tension between the siblings and get to know his future brother in law a bit better, Reese signs up for Leviathan Fitness, the gym his new soon to be brother in law co-owns, to help him train for his upcoming triathlon. Drawn to the kraken in ways Reese can’t explain, he finds himself asking Cyrus to train him and gets so much more than he bargains for.
Reese and Cyrus are the literal cutest couple I have ever read. The patience Cyrus had for Reese as he befriended him and slowly peeled back the layers of prejudice and hurt that Reese had been holding on to for so long. He showed him love and friendship when no other monster really did, and that made my heart do somersaults inside. I absolutely loved watching these two grow together and as individuals–it was refreshing to see characters communicate in a positive way and work towards a solution/goal together.
Hands down this is the cutest book with an even cuter plot. If you are looking to dip your toes into monster romance or are even just looking for a fun, zero angst, load of fluffy goodness–I highly recommend picking up the Leviathan Fitness series. Literally the best decision I’ve made in a while. Now to go join a gym with a pool…
