On another episode of: Sam plays Review Catch Up–let’s talking about poetry and how I’m obsessed with it! I read An Armory of Love Poems back in April as a way to participate in National Poetry Month and I was mesmerized. This is truly a collection from the heart, that speaks to the heart!

An Armory of Love Poems is Antavia Mason’s second collection of poetry. In this collection, Antavia delves into the intricacies of love in all forms. In moments where love seems lacking, these poems serve as reminders as to the strength and beauty of love in all seasons of life.
“I am the child who does not want to leave the top instead I want to hog the space just beneath stars and their moon.”
An Armory of Love Poems is a collection of poetry that sits with you. It’s been a while since I took some time and actively sat down and read a collection, and I thought that it being National Poetry Month, what better time than now to knock out some of my poetry collections I’ve been storing up? Best .Decision .Ever.
Mason lyrically weaves with her spell binding writing style and verse a poetry collection that completely embodies the emotions someone would have in different stages, moments, and types of love. From the romantic, familial, spiritual, to friendship kind of love—Mason gives homage and acknowledgement to those emotions that sometimes you can’t quiet place. I loved being able to find myself in the words of these poems and get lost in my own emotions as Mason delicately lays them out for reflection. Love is one of the greatest powers in this world next to storytelling and I fully believe this collection did it justice.
I went in expecting to like a few poems, but came out with a greater love for the medium and a fresh need for more book flags and highlighters! If you are in the mood for a collection that will get your fingers snapping and your heart soaring—I highly recommend grabbing this one up.
I’m giggling because the NFL quarterback stuff in the synopsis box is such a wild cognitive disconnect hahahaa
But WOW. What a review and I am so glad you enjoyed the collection.
LOLOLOLOL This is what I get for doing mass review formatting while mutli-tasking 🤦🏽♀️. But thank you for pointing it out to me! And it was such a good collection! Really had me sinking deeper into my poetry binge for sure 😍
