Happy New Years Eve! The day has finally come and today is the last day of Bookending Winter 2020 and well, 2020. This event has been so much fun, and I’ve gotten to meet and talk to so many different bloggers that I’m so excited to continue to get to know in the new year. On behalf of all the hosts and Clo, I would like to thank each and everyone of you who participated in this event or even just waddled and read one of our prompts! We appreciate ya’ll so much and are so grateful for you!
I am hoping to get to waddle to more prompts in the coming weeks that I haven’t blog hopped too (which is a lot–sorry!) so be sure to stick your posts/prompts into the blog hopping masterlist (mentioned below), so that it is easily found/accessible! Once again, thank you so much and I wish you nothing but happiness and health for the coming year!!
If this is your first time here on my blog (hi! Hello! I’m Sam!) and you don’t already know what Bookending Winter is, its a month long event in December that was created by myself and Clo @ Cuppa Clo where we aspire to bring the bookish community closer together through the platform we love the most–blogging! Each day throughout the month, we have different prompts from different hosts that participants can replicate! I am so excited to check out everyone’s posts and prompts as we get more into the month as our hosts this year are dishing out quality content! You can also catch me smiling from ear to ear as I get to meet all of you on your blogs and on our Twitter (@bookend_events if you haven’t followed, you totally should!) page!
Also, don’t forget that we have a blog hopping masterlist! The list features all of our participants and those who are participating in Bookending Winter can put their post links next to their name for easy blog hopping! Can’t wait to see all your amazing posts! And with that, let’s get into today’s prompt!
-TODAY’S PROMPT-
End of Year Wrap Up and Look Ahead
2020 Wrap Up and 2021 New Year Resolutions!
End of the Year Wrap Up
For many of us, this year has been a whirlwind. 2020 was…well to put it mildly, a year where you laugh to keep from crying. For many of us it was a struggle bus and an uphill battle to maintain or even keep a glimmer of our old routines let alone continue reading with the same gusto as before. I don’t know about most of ya’ll but this year took a machete knife to my reading goals and challenges.
I had set out for the year of 2020 to read 100 books (with a mental goal of 120 because I’m an over achiever at heart). But life took a vacation and with that took my goal of 100 books with it. Due to this I knocked down my goodreads goal to a comfy 70 books and had a glass of wine. As of today, I have reached my newly made goal of 70 books with approximately a total of 17,909 pages read.
According to Goodreads, my most popular read this year was Twilight by Stephenie Meyer, which was a re-read/Buddy read with one of my favorite humans (and fellow co-host), Jeimy @ A Novel Idea, which surprisingly enough my least popular novel, Stranded With The Star God by Casey Fox, was also a buddy read with her that has scarred us of seafood for the future (if you know you know).
My longest book this year was a re-read of Luna and the Lie by Mariana Zapata, which I think is going to be a reoccurring theme in this wrap up, as a lot of my reading this year was just re-reading books I love and adding more books to my TBR and amazon cart. Comfort reads are the best reads, just as window shopping is the best form of self-care.
And that basically wraps up my reading journey for this year. I ultimately, did a lot of comfort reading and towards the end of the year got frisky enough and tried a few historical romances. Most of my reading save for a few of the re-reads were done completely through audiobooks and e-readers; I believe I opened up a physical book only twice this entire year–but I bought a bucket load of them. 😉

New Years Resolutions
I am a big supporter of setting resolutions and goals every year and every month. It gives me something to strive for and keeps me motivated through the month and year to be a better version of myself and to keep pushing myself out of my comfort zone and try new things. 2020’s resolutions went on pause mode for a majority of them, but 2021 is about to be kick ass!
Personal / Reading
- Be more intentional with my friends & family
- Try one new thing each month (one has to be social/around people every other month)
- Read 100 books
- Write 500 words each month in any project
- Read 25% of owned TBR
Blogging
- Reach 1k followers here on the blog
- Be more lenient and patient with myself in regards to posting and scheduling posts
- BLOG HOP MORE! Or really just start blog hopping since I didn’t do any of that at all this year
- Write reviews for books 24 hours after finishing them (the backlog of ARC reviews I need to write right now is unbelievable)
From my blog to yours–Happy New Years!
