Bookending Winter 2020 is catching speed and I am absolutely loving reading everyone’s posts! If this is your first time here on my blog (hi! Hello! I’m Sam!) and you don’t already know what Bookending Winter is, its a month long event in December that was created by myself and Clo @ Cuppa Clo where we aspire to bring the bookish community closer together through the platform we love the most–blogging! Each day throughout the month, we have different prompts from different hosts that participants can replicate! I am so excited to check out everyone’s posts and prompts as we get more into the month as our hosts this year are dishing out quality content! Fireside Favourites
Take a look back at your favourite reads of 2020. Hopefully these will make it to someone else’s TBR for them to pass the time whilst snuggled in with a hot coco next to the fire.
Hands Down by Mariana Zapata
Mariana could make a grocery list and it would probably be one of my favorite reads of the year. Honestly, this lady has yet to make a dud in my eyes and I swoon every time I re-read her work. This one is no exception! We are finally given Zac’s story and oh my god was it worth it. Hands Down serves up Zapata’s unique writing style that makes you feel like you are talking to an old friend, and comedic humor that will leave you laughing for days on end after closing the book. Plus, it’s a friends-to-lovers sports romance with baking thrown in–How can it not be on this list?!
The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julie Quinn
I know–I’m shocked too. But alas, hell must have frozen over because a historical romance landed on one of my favorites lists. Truly wild, but totally deserved! The Viscount is one of those books that when I went to sleep at night I was itching to get back to it, just so I could see what happened. Anthony and Kate’s back and forth banter and heat fueled stares had me grasping my pearls and grinning like a fool the entire read.
Dear Ava by Ilsa Madden-Mills
If you have been a reader here for a while, you would know I have a strong love for everything Ilsa Madden-Mills. Dear Ava gave me chills and swoon induced feelings from the moment I started the story. It does deal with a super heavy topic (TW: rape) throughout the novel, so be careful and practice self care if you do decide to read this one! But, wow, writing style aside, the characters and their development alone propelled this one into my favorite reads of this year! I’m talking chef kisses this one is!

ooh I love seeing your “fireside” favorites that you have shared here. There is something so unique about Zapata’s writing right? I still need to read Hands Down. The Viscount Who Loved Me is one of my all time favorite books, Its such a happy feel historical.
I’m currently reading “The Duke and I” in the Bridgerton series, and now I’m even more excited to continue because the Viscount one comes next!
