Becoming Hamilton is an installment/series on Fictionally Sam, where I take the plunge in documenting my journey of writing a novel. New posts every Saturday of November, follow me as I attempt to write like I’m running out of time.
Honestly, god bless the time change and that extra hour we got because of it. The universe this week is the real MVP.

I started off good! My goal for the first day of NANO was way below the suggested word count, but I did this because I knew I wasn’t going to be home until late, and I wanted something achievable. So I chose to stick to my writing routine schedule, with a goal of 800 and my own personal overachiever goal (if I nail my daily goal and want to up the anty to the next level) 1,000.
I tested out setting the mood for writing with some candles and the lights turned off, and WOW A DIFFERENCE FAM. I got an extra 316 words in before I waddled off to bed, and I am high key proud of myself.

Today was unnecessarily busy, and I just wasn’t in the mood to write for a better part of the day (most like all of it). Though, because I am trying to get back into the habit of writing, I did sit down for an hour and attempted to write at least something.
I got 292 words.
My goal was 4, 250 with an overachiever goal of 5k.
Yeah I’m laughing at myself too.

I WAS A MONSTER IN THE NIGHT LIGHT.
Sorry I just really wanted to shout that out. But yeah, today I felt my mojo come back, and the only reason why I didn’t write more was because I have to wake up for work tomorrow morning and need to go to bed.
Today was insanely busy–more busy than yesterday– and I woke up with a body numbing migraine, so making up for yesterdays shit show wasn’t a option until late this evening after I got back home from Theatre auditions. The goal for today was to make it to NANO’s suggested word count to be on track which is 5k and some change, but I only got to 3, 025. Which I am hella proud of, and am determined to get caught back up. So fingers crossed!

I am still a tad behind from my NANO word goal but so far so good! I’m actually pretty happy with the progress I’m making! Fingers crossed I get to keep the momentum!

Today was hard. I had the first day of theatre rehearsals tonight and that was a shit show in of itself. Plus, I had to people the entire day, and my energy was completely depleted. I honestly am not sure, how I am going to survive the rest of this week and get everything I want done, because tonight was the beginning of the CRAZY. Tomorrow, I have my PT session right after work and then Thursday, I have Rehearsals yet again, with Bible Study right after work on Friday.
I’m learning more and more that the busy life isn’t for me.

I FINALLY MADE THE 5K MARK!!!!!!
I’m also slowly dying inside from forcing myself to people, but I made the 5k mark so who cares?!

I really do hate the new NANOWRIMO website. I’m not getting badges, I can’t edit my word count for previous days, because I write late at night and forget to input my WC before midnight. It’s annoying. I want the old dingy website back.
Also, what is the point of buddies, if you can’t actually see your buddies progress?!
I’m salty, this is fine.

I am exhausted–mentally, physically, emotionally, all of it.
Today wasn’t a good writing day, but I did have a breakthrough on how I see the story moving forward into Act 2 (which I’ve been struggling with all week) so that was the silver lining in all of this. I’m hoping that tomorrow (today for you all) I will be able to have a 10k writing day in order to get back on track with NANO. Fingers crossed I can get away from people and just become the hermit I need to be in order for me to recharge and my characters to thrive.
Excuse me as I go waddle to sleep now.
