Happy Wednesday Storytellers and welcome back to another Bookending Autumn post! We are smack dab in the middle of week two of the event and I am head over heels in love with everyone’s posts! If you don’t know what Bookending Autumn is, its a month long even in October that was created by myself and Clo @ Cuppa Clo where we aspire to bring the bookish community closer together through the platform we love the most–blogging! Each day we have different prompts from different hosts that participants can replicate! I am wickedly excited to check out everyone’s posts and prompts as we get more into the month as our hosts this year are dishing out quality content! You can catch me smiling from ear to ear as I get to meet all of you on your blogs and on our Twitter (@bookend_events if you haven’t followed, you totally should!) page!

Today, the lovely Jamsu @ Jamsudreams wraps up her reign with a swoon worthy prompt that will be sure to light the flames of your hearts this wicked season. If you haven’t already checked her content out and her original prompt–please do so! She is an absolute gem that I love to pieces!

Also don’t forget that we have a blog hopping masterlist! The list features all of our participants and those who are participating in Bookending Autumn can put their post links next to their name for easy blog hopping! Can’t wait to see all your amazing posts! And with that, let’s get into today’s prompt!

Love Potion Gone Wrong

What are some of your favorite star-crossed lovers?
Two people who care immensely for each other but due to their tragic circumstances cannot be together?

Covenant Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Okay, so I am going to try really hard and make sure that this list isn’t entirely made up of Jennifer L. Armentrout books. In my eyes she is the ultimate queen of forbidden/star-crossed romance and you  will probably note that in this list. The Covenant series is probably my favorite forbidden romance series from her. Greek Mythology meets vampire academy (kinda) this series made me swoon till thine kingdom come.

Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare

I had to put the OG starcrossed lovers in this list. What thespian would I be if I didn’t?

The Harbinger series by Jennifer L. Armentrout

OKAY IT IS HARDER THAN IT LOOKS TO ONLY PUT ONE JLA SERIES IN HERE FAM! In this case, we’ve got the spin-off series of the Dark Elements trilogy (which can also be seen as a love triangle/star-crossed romance) that involves gargoyles, angles, and very sexy demons. Interested in more of my thoughts? You can check out my full review for this gem here: Storm and Fury by Jennifer L. Armentrout Review

Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini

I had to go deep into my goodreads shelves to pull this one out. I haven’t read this series since I was in high school, so whose to say if this is still any good, but damn did I swoon like my life was on a tilt-a-whirl when I read Helen and Lucas’ story.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Maybe this is a stretch but Peeta and Katniss are low key star-crossed lovers, I mean only one is suppose to survive so 💁🏽‍♀️. The stanning of their relationship was everything in my youth–burnt bread in the rain never made my heart stutter like it did in that moment.

I haven’t read any of these other than Storm and Fury and Romeo and Juliet (hated that second one), but my favorite forbidden romance that comes to mind is Meghan and Ash from The Iron Fey series! Also I’m counting The Harbringers as a star-crossed romance because that end. 👀👀👀 JLA done it now.

I haven’t read the Iron Fey series yet! Is that one by Kagawa? tries to remember without waddling to GR

I’m so glad to see you doing one of my prompts. I love you to pieces too and I’m so glad we met. I only read the first book of Covenant series so I can’t say a lot about it. I just didn’t feel comfortable continuing the series since it reminded me too much of Vampire Academy.

I still haven’t decided if I want to read Storm and Fury. On other hand I didn’t like Zayne in The Darkest Elements and apparently there’s love triangle but on other hand I want to give him another chance and I want to see Roth again.

I’m sorry to say that I disagree with The Hunger Games because of the last book. But otherwise I loved reading your take to my prompt (:

I know a lot of people who haven’t continued the covenant series because of how much it resembles vampire academy, so don’t sweat it (though it’s 10/10 in my opinion and I ALMOST like it more than VA? Can I even say that? lol)

Oh you totally should! I didn’t care for Zayne much either until I read SF! His backstory and character development is so much better than in the Dark Elements series that I am honestly super stoked to continue the series. Also there isn’t a love triangle in this one (well so far)!

Yeah, HG is a stretch, but if you don’t count the third book, it could totally be a star crossed lover vibe. lololol.

Of course you can say that! I’m not big fan of VA anymore tbh. I just love Bloodlines.

I think in the first two books HG was more one-sided.

I kind of see THG as a star-crossed lovers story, if only because in-universe the Capitol portrays them that way for drama. It’s one of those cases where Everlark both is a isn’t a star-crossed couple.

Yes! it’s a nice stretch where it can and can’t work but if you think hard enough that it kinda is! lol

Oh man I totally agree that Katniss and Peeta are low-key star crossed lovers, I mean like you said only one is supposed to live, and then think about how Peeta ends up in Mockingjay for a while, totally star crossed

Peeta and Katniss are lowkey star crossed lovers I feel, either way we’re counting them xD Ooooo Daemon and Katy from the Lux series. I did this prompt already, before I’d read Obsidian and Onyx pouts but I would definitely include those two in it hehe
