June Book Haul || The Month It Was My Birthday And Forgot The Word 'No'

I blacked out.
That is my only excuse for what you are about to witness here. I honestly have no clue how the below happened and how most of it happened after I went on my book buying ban. For context, let me start from the beginning–June was a month of a lot of change for me, not only was it a month marking me getting a year older, but it was also a month where I started going to my church’s Bible study (which is a huge step for me as I am inherently introverted and not good with people), as well as me taking my health seriously and getting not only a membership at my local gym but also hiring a personal trainer.
Now, if you guys don’t know (which I didn’t either until they told me the total) Personal Trainers are fucking expensive. Like hot damn. Because of it’s expensiveness and me not thinking about my finances when I was there getting assessed, my wallet took a nose dive into the not so happy lands. Due to not being able to grow money on trees, ya girl was forced to put herself on a book buying ban and cut back on several things in order to get back on track.

The Rules of my BBB on Bookish Collision Server

CaptureNow the buying ban happened towards the middle/end of June where I enlisted the help of my friends on the Bookish Collision Discord Server (click the link to join!) to keep me accountable. So the amount you see here is pre-BBB–which hurts my heart and wallet to look at cause, idk how that happened either. Since starting my BBB, I am however, proud to say that I have stuck with it and haven’t bought a single book. With that said though, my mind is blown at the sheer amount of books I got AFTER the ban, which according to my data sheet, 126 of the ebooks collected this month were free/after my ban.
I know.
I honestly have no clue nor excuse to how this happened but ya girl ain’t even mad. Big shout out and thanks to Ruby over at Ruby’s Books, who has been on this book buying ban with me and has more than graciously taken on the role of being my freebies dealer! If you haven’t waddled to her side of the world yet I high key suggest you go do that! She is a complete gem and her content/work is a highlight to my day!

As always, before I get into the bounty of which my kindle and shelves cry out to in joy, let me preface this with I am a super frugal and hella cheap person. Most–if not all– of my purchases were deals from bookbub.com, amazon, audible, etc. which amounted to many of them being free, as well as through my carefully thought out monthly book budget as I have placed reading and supporting authors and the arts a priority when planning my personal finances. With that being said, take a look at my walk of shamelessness.

Are any of these on your TBRs, or have you already read them? If so, what did you think?

dang June was quite a month for you, and I have so much admiration for you making so many lifestyle changes! and there are so many free books floating around if you know where / how to look (slash have friends who are enablers, love you Ruby 💕), I feel like that gets you into a flow of acquiring books so it’s definitely understandable.
that said, wow, that really is *a lot* of books. but heyyyy I spy The Night Circus! 😍

Aw thank you for the shout out! I love being your dealer, Sammy Sam! Being on a book buying ban is hard, so we need all the help we can possibly get. First, happy birthday! And second wow mega book haul. BUT BUT BUT. Most are free, and like I said, we need our fix. Congrats on joining a gym and hiring a PT. Let us know how it goes, because I’m thinking of doing the same thing but I. Am. Terrified.

LOL I love it! I loved your personality throughout this haha!
But honestly 160 books for only $126 is a steal so I wouldn’t be mad either. 💁🏻‍♀️

I can honestly say I was impressed by the fact of how long it took me to scroll through this post while going through it. I feel like you and I have a problem with accumulating books. I know life didn’t do a haul post the last two months because I couldn’t let everyone know I have a shopping problem with books lol. You have some great books in there, so jelly!

Gotta say though, you seem to spend more time buying/gaining freebies than reading the poor books. They’re all screaming for you to read them now Sam *cackles* Also will be keeping an eye on you with this book buying ban….I’ll be watching friend xD

Holy fucking crap Sam, no WONDER you created the BBB channel and went on a strict ban. 160 books in a month is insane, and RIP to your TBR (honestly, just read Kingsbane immediately so I can screech with you about it).
Ruby is a good freebies dealer. And all around great person. Good luck Sam, I am watching you!
