ABRAHAM DAVIS—Honest Abe to his friends—IS IN OVER HIS HEAD…
He’s a fixer and a do good-er. The all-knowing, resident “grandfather” on the wrestling team who everyone relies on to fix their problems. His teammates go to him for everything; advice, homework, or when they need a sober driver at three in the morning–whether he likes it or not.
Abe’s current mission is easy: mend his roommates broken heart by helping him find a girlfriend on the LoveU app–without getting caught in the lie…
SKYLAR GABRIEL. IS. OVER. IT.
Over her bad grades. Over her meddling older brother and his two best friends. And over dating douchebags. What she wants to know is: where have all the nice guys gone?
She longs for a handsome, sweet, and honest guy who can make her laugh. In one last ditch effort to prove that he exists—Skylar turns to LoveU.
On her worst day, Skylar has no filter (it’s a miracle she hasn’t been ditched mid-date).
On her best, she’s as wholesome, and sweet, as pie.
On Thursday? She matches with Abraham Davis’s roommate.
Skylar Gabriel is falling for the wrong guy—she just doesn’t realize it yet.
BECAUSE ABE DAVIS IS A LIAR.

Sara Ney is back with another L-O-L romcom from her How To Date A Douchebag series! I honestly am a huge fan of Ney and her work, and when I heard that she was making another installment in my favorite series…well saying I was hype would be an understatement.
The Lying Hours tells us the story of Abraham Davis, an athlete who isn’t your typical jock–the guy is literally the nicest athlete who would give a stranger the shirt off his back. However, this endearing trait has left Abe being taken advantage of on more than one occasion–especially by his roommate JB, who takes it upon himself to have Abe get him dates on the campus’ new dating app. Enter Skylar. Skylar is tired of being single, so when she signs up for the campus dating app, she falls for a blonde guy named JB…except is it really JB?
I was absolutely entertained with this read, the snark and banter between Skylar and Abe had me grinning and laughing throughout my binge read (because there is no other way to read a Ney book than to binge). I absolutely loved Skylar and her relationship with her best friend Hannah, I think their interactions and conversations within this was probably my favorite thing about this book as it felt like conversations I would have with my own friends.
I did have a couple issues with overall plot and pacing, as I felt it went by super quickly and pivotal moments were there and gone in a blink of a page. I also felt like we didn’t get enough interaction between Abe and Skylar to actually believe the chemistry between the two.
However, even with my issues, I was still able to really enjoy the crap out of this story and these characters and I honestly cannot wait for the next one! I highly recommend Lying Hours to anyone looking for a hilarious romcom about navigating the new dating era!
Huge thank you to Sara Ney for sending me an ARC for my honest review! Quotations taken from an uncorrected proof and may change upon final publication.
