I love you, he said.
Forever, he said.
Turns out, he lied.

When he leaves me high and dry after a cross-country move, I push him out of my life as much as I can, which is hard to do when the guy who broke your heart also happens to be the most famous dude in town.

After a disastrous year, he’s aiming to rehab his reputation, and I just so happen to be aiming for a promotion at the paper.

So, we strike a deal, and it’s a win-win all around.

Besides, what’s the harm in a few dates to charity galas anyway?

He’s arrogant, a total jerk. There’s no way I’ll fall for him…again.

I used to love him. Now I hate him…I think.

Favorite Romance Series

Valentines is a few days away and I’ve been in a romance nostalgic mood! For the past couple of days I’ve been reading snippets from my favorite romances and swooning over these characters all over again. Because of this, I thought it would be fun to share some of my all time favorite romance series to date!

Untitled design

The Addicted Series by Becca And Kristie Ritchie: I think this was the first series I read when I began venturing into the beautiful world of Romance, and it has since become a favorite of mine. Dealing with hard topics and relevant issues, this series made me swoon, cry, and happy dance throughout my time reading as I fell in love with not only the main characters, Lily and Lo, but also their family and friends who grow to be a bigger part of the story as it progresses.

Status: Completed | Spin offs: The Calloway Sisters (follows Lily and her sisters Rose and Daisy), Like Us ( follows their children)

How to Date A Douchebag by Sara NeyThis is the series that had me falling head over heels in love with Sports Romance. Snarky meets Sass and assholes, Sara Ney has a way to make you laugh and swoon all at the same time. Each novel in this series can be read as a standalone and you don’t have to read the series in publication order in order to understand what is going on. The series revolves around the men of the University of Iowa wrestling team–each a douchebag of their own kind and right– and the women who happen to land in their paths. This series is a binger and a time and a half!

Status: Fifth book set to be published Spring of 2019

The Texting Series by Teagan Hunter: If you are looking for a laugh out loud and melt your heart kind of romance, then this series is the one for you. The Texting Series is a 4 book standalone romcom series that is told mostly through text messages. Each novel deals with a different couple that are all connected or interlinked together in some way. Hunter has become one of my all time favorite romance authors and an instant auto-buy author for me–solely because of this series! Honestly fam, this series is one you don’t want to miss out on as it’s filled with heartfelt moments, goats, pizza, snarky sass, and a shit ton of swoon worthy men.

Status: The last installment “Text Me Baby One More Time” is set to release Feb. 11, 2019

Blue Collar Brothers by Piper Rayne: Hot damn folks. Thats literally all I can say about this trilogy. The series is electric and steamy as each novel follows a different Bianco son, Mauro, Christian, and Luca. Each brother works–you guessed it– blue collar jobs for the city (firefighter, EMT, and Cop). Each story is rooted in the plot line of the brothers being auctioned off during a first responders bachelor auction and how their dates go with the lucky female winners. These books can be read as a standalone, however, I highly suggest reading them in order for the full swoon effect as you will get a deeper understanding and character arc for each of our mains then if you read them out of order and separately!

Status: Completed

Spiral of Bliss by Nina Lane: This series leans more towards the ending of the NA audience and the beginning of the Adult audience–but hot toddy maker does this series have you fanning yourself. The series follows the love and marriage of Dean and Olivia as they navigate married life together all the while the secrets of their past come back to test them one final time. This series had me enraptured from start to finish (minus the fourth novel, I choose to believe that one doesn’t exists) and had me fanning myself literally every five minutes as this romance could be considered contemporary romance erotica. Yeah I know, a time.

Status: Completed

Lux by Jennifer L. Armentrout: I could not write about my favorite romance series and not throw in my ultimate favorite trashy YA romance series to date. I am a HUGE fan of everything aliens (like it’s insane and slightly concerning) and extraterrestrial/space so when I heard about Jennifer L. Armentrout and her YA romance series, I HAD to read it. Boy oh boy did I not regret it. I finished this series in one week and it has since been placed in a special corner of my heart as I relate so much to the main character Katy and the things that she struggles with throughout her life–before and after the novel. I honestly wish our main Hero, Daemon, was real just so that I could kidnap him and make him mine forever.

Status: Completed | Spin off: Origin (Tells the Story of Luc 4 years after the ending of Lux)

-Honorable Mentions-

White House Duology by Katy EvansSteamy politics and a secret fling…who knew the campaign trail could be so hot?

The Hook-up by Ilsa Madden-MillsCollege Football Sports Romance filled with witty banter and off the chart chemistry. Each book is a standalone and can be read in any order.

Off-Campus by Elle Kennedy: College Hockey Sports Romance that has even more witty banter, snark, sass and ass. Each book is a standalone but I highly encourage reading these in order!

Outlander Series by Diana GalbadonI am trash for the TV show so obviously I had to shout out this one. Fantasy meets romance and historical fiction; Claire and Jamie are the true OTP and the only reason I will willingly go out and read historical fiction.

Genre In Depth

Genre in Depth: Romance

Genre in Depth is a new series on Fictionally Sam where we delve into different genre and see how they began, their characteristics, and books within that genre, etc. New genre every first and last Wednesday of the month!

Welcome to February folks, the month of love and chocolates–or if you are super single like me, the month of single awareness. These next 28 days (especially the first 14) are a time here in the States; people from everywhere show their appreciation for those they love through grand gestures, sugary sweets, popping the big question, and taking out the trash without being asked. As for me, this month is a time where I binge read a crap ton of sappy love stories that will remind me that I’m single and my period is about to start. Like I said, a time.

But speaking of love stories–in this installment of Genre in-depth, we get to take a look at one of my top favorite genres around–you guessed it! Romance! Continue reading “Genre in Depth: Romance”

A Sexy FAKE RELATIONSHIP rom com standalone written by a duo of two USA Bestselling Authors

Luca Bianco is a jerk. There I said it.

He thinks he’s so suave and sexy, walking around in his paramedic uniform stretched out by all his hard muscles and saving lives every day. I swear he thinks every woman in the world would kill for a chance to be with him.

Men like Luca are good for one thing only—a one-night stand—not commitment. I don’t care if my friend did pay good money at a charity bachelor auction for me to go on a date with him, I refuse to do it.

That is until Luca offers me a deal I can’t refuse, and I agree to be his pretend fiancé.

The heat that’s simmered between us for a decade ignites and I’m not sure even Luca will be able to kickstart my heart after I call code blue.

What’s that saying? Love is blind?

Not true. I can see this head-on collision coming a mile away.
