Rec Me Sunday: LGBTQIA+ Books I Can’t Wait To Read

Rec me Sunday is a new series on Fictionally Sam where I basically give you recommendation of books based on different topics/tropes that will wreck you in all the best ways possible!

Happy Pride month storytellers! Not only does this month mark my entering the world on the back of a unicorn, but it also marks the celebration and awareness of the LGBTQIA+ community!

Usually my rec me Sundays are books that I have read, however with it being Pride month I wanted to do something LGBT themed–which brings me to my confession…I haven’t read a lot of books that have LGBT rep in it–well at least with reputable representation–that I would be comfortable making an actual post for. I am working on fixing this, so I thought it would be fun to show you the books that I do plan on reading!

Genre In Depth

Genre in Depth: Thrillers

Genre in Depth is a new series on Fictionally Sam where we delve into different genre and see how they began, their characteristics, and books within that genre, etc. New genre every first and last Wednesday of the month!

Happy Wednesday Storytellers! It’s finally April and things are going amazing as we are waddling deeper into the trenches of Bookending Spring! If you don’t know what Bookending Spring is, it’s basically a seasonal event that I and my partner in crime Clo @ Book Dragons created and run that aspires to bring the book blogging community closer together! To find out more about it and how to get involved, check out our announcement post here: Bookending Spring 2019 Announcement. We’d love to have you join in on the fun!

In today’s installment of Genre in Depth, we are going to be taking a look into the Thriller genre and see what exactly gets this fast paced genre’s heart racing. Like previously with mysteries, I don’t read a lot of thrillers –which I am trying to fix! With that said, I would like to point out that I took to my lovely friends for recommendations for books specifically for this post as I haven’t read much in this genre that I feel comfortable in giving you a recommendation. I trust their judgement 100% and if they rec it than I rec it too!

So grab your chair, get comfy, and let’s get thrilled!

Rec Me Sunday: Enemies To Lovers

Rec me Sunday is a new bi-weekly series on Fictionally Sam where I basically give you recommendation of books based on different topics/tropes that will wreck you in all the best ways possible! These books are books I have personally loved and would read over and over again.

Ah, I love the smell of a new series here on the blog! This one has been in the back of my head for quiet some time and it wasn’t until recently that I decided to really solidify the series and what I want from it as the title of it all took shape in my head (I cackled for thirty minutes straight at “Rec Me Sunday”…please tell me you get it…rec…wreck….no?).

I thought it would be fun to create a series where I could put in one place all of my favorite recommendations, and then categorize them based on genre, topic, and/or trope! So for the series debut, I thought it would be loads of fun to gush over one of my all time favorite tropes: Enemies-To-Lovers. Continue reading “Rec Me Sunday: Enemies To Lovers”

Genre In Depth

Genre in Depth: Mystery

Genre in Depth is a new series on Fictionally Sam where we delve into different genre and see how they began, their characteristics, and books within that genre, etc. New genre every first and last Wednesday of the month!

I spy with my little brown eyes a very late post. I know what you are going to say, “aren’t these suppose to be posted on Wednesdays?” and yes Karen, yes they are supposed to be up on Wednesday– but who would have thought that mystery had so…much? I wanted to do this genre justice, and as I got deeper into my research I realized that this one was going to take more time than I originally planned and allotted for. So here we are.

Today’s installment we are going to look at the genre of mystery and all that it holds (which is a whole of a lot). As I probably have only read two series and a standalone that could be considered part of the mystery genre (thank you Nancy Drew and the Sammy Keyes series!) I found that I too learned so much about this genre, and now I am honestly really intrigued to pick up a few books in the Mystery spectrum and delve into their stories! With that said, I would like to point out that I took to my lovely friends for recommendations for books specifically for this post as I haven’t read much in the genre to be able to fully give you a recommendation. I trust their judgement 100% and if they rec it than I rec it too!

So grab your chair, get comfy, and let’s evaluate the clues!
