The first book for Romance Revelry Society in 2025 is officially in the bag! We are making our way through the Empyrean series and gearing up for our read of the new release of Onyx Storm. Having just recently did a reread of this beauty, I thought it would be a great time to try out the Fourth Wing: Graphic Audio rendition instead. Someone kiss my brain because this was literally the best decision I’ve made all year.

Enter the brutal and elite world of a war college for dragon riders from New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Yarros.
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding generalāalso known as her tough-as-talons motherāhas ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders.
But when youāre smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away…because dragons donāt bond to āfragileā humans. They incinerate them.
With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success. The rest would kill her just for being her motherās daughterālike Xaden Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders Quadrant.
Sheāll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise.
Yet, with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the kingdom’s protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret.
Friends, enemies, lovers. Everyone at Basgiath War College has an agendaābecause once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die.

“A dragon without its rider is a tragedy. A ride without its dragon is dead.”
Finally waddled to listen to a graphic audio and I actually really enjoyed it!! Iāve read Fourth Wing in the past (several times) and wanted to reread the series before jumping into Onyx Storm, so I thought it would be a fun time to try out the graphic audio version and see what all the hype was about.Ā
The hype was definitely deserved. This was such a fun and dynamic experience for my earholes. From the unique way of storytelling that differs from the radio dramas I grew up listening to, down to the sound effects and orchestral music choices in the background of certain scenes (truly can never unhear it now, iykyk). Graphic audio and its cast of narrators blew this out of the park.Ā
I will admit that it is indeed an adjustment, but I got used to the storytelling style quickly, and once I was sucked in I was SUCKED IN! 10/10 would recommend trying out the graphic audios for any reread you might want to do. They are the abridged versions of the books, so I really recommend doing them only for re-reads just so you can get the full story the author intended from their book first.Ā
Ā Ā My Spice Rating: š¶ļøš¶ļøš¶ļø.5 (simply because its on audioā¦and it was a time haha)
