We have finally reached the end of January! Is it just me or did January feel like the longest month ever in a long time?! Because holy cannoli on a cracker was I ready for it to be over. As we have finally reached February, I thought it would be fun to do a sneak peak or a look ahead into what I’ve hopefully got going on this month.

➡This is the Bookish Collision Discord Server’s BOTM for January and February! I haven’t started it yet, because I am very much knee deep in my Zoey Draven era, so I’ve moved it over to my February TBR!
Captain of All Pleasure by Kresley Cole
➡Kiss and Let Me Telechat is nearing the end of our Historical Romances Set Outside of England Read Along, and this was my pick! I’m working through my KC backlist, and so far I only have a handful left to read (This included). Even though this takes place on the open sea and I generally dislike books set out at sea/ pirates–I’m curious to see if Kresley and her absolute magnificence can sway me and keep me invested.
Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros
➡Another Book club book–except this one is for my Romance Revelry Society Book Club! We are knee deep in our readalong of Yarros’ Empyrean series, and February is the month where we finally discuss Onyx Storm. I’m ready to be devastated and join the rest of the world in waiting for the next book.
The Monsters We Are by Suzanne Wright
➡It may be a new year, but some things never change and that is my love of buddy reading with my bestie Jamsu! This month our buddy read pick is the final installment in the Devil’s Cradle trilogy. I’m excited to see what happens with everyone and get some answers to how things went down in the last book!
Angel’s Blood by Nalini Singh
➡And coming in hot with a new buddy read moment, is the Guild Hunter series with Ruby @ Bookishly Ruby! I got really excited when earlier this month, she mentioned her wanting to read the Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh, and I was all to happy to crash her party. We are kicking off our buddy read with the first book in the series and I’m excited for my eyeballs to have more NS writing in their sight.
Hobby Update & Goals
Crochet
One of the great things that 2024 gave me (probably the only great thing if I’m honest) is my new found love with the crochet hobby/niche. I absolutely adore the craft, and while I still think of myself as a low intermediate/ beginner level–I’m still super excited to learn more about the craft and different stitch variations.
For the end of winter and into the spring season I plan on doing the Sirdar Crochet Along (CAL) project, as well as trying my hand at crocheting a sweater?? Maybe its ambitious of me, but as I always say here when I over commit to something–YOLO. The yarn for both projects are already bought, and I’ve begun the process of caking the yarn for the sweater project.
I’ll be excited to report back the progress I’ve made in a few weeks time!
Speed Puzzling
Another thing that 2024 gave to me was my absolute fascination with speed jigsaw puzzling! My mind boggles in awe at how fast some of these people can do a 500 piece jigsaw puzzle and because I’m competitive (and probably a major toxic trait), I told myself “I could do that.”
I indeed could not.
BUT! That didn’t stop the bug from biting me–and I’ve been slowly working on getting my time down to at least 2 hours (Currently sitting at 5.5 hours for a 500 piece puzzle (down from my OG time of 12 hours!). The goal for February is to do another 500 piece puzzle and try to hit the three hour mark.
Writing
My last hobby to update ya’ll on is my writing. If you been a follower of my blog for a while, you know I use to write heavily and a lot. Well for the last couple of years that has dwindled out of existence. However, I would really love to get back into my storytelling ways and start sharing and/or expressing the plots and romances that are floating around in my noggin.
I took some time out of January to just dream, and in February I would like to very loosely plot out the idea I have ruminating in my head. Nothing fancy; I just want to take this nice and slow and go at my own pace. A slow burn with the writing craft if you will. Who knows, maybe I will even vlog it and shove it on youtube, so you can watch me woo my computer and brain–haha!
