The Favor is a read that you go into knowing full well you are going to get a fun little entertaining ride. A Marriage of Convenience, Boss/Employee romance–Wright sets the story up for success with delicious characters and a sizzling chemistry that even I couldn’t help but get sucked into from the get-go. Honestly, it felt like I was watching an upgraded Netflix movie that you couldn’t quite tell if it was previously a lifetime TV movie or not but was totally invested in. Like grab a bottle of wine and some popcorn and get on the couch like Olivia Pope invested.
Vienna and Dane were everything I needed in this moment of time. Their chemistry and back and forth banter was something that kept me engaged and flipping pages. I loved how I could see the moments where things fell into place so subtly for our hero and how with time we got to see the shift in his actions and her becoming the one thing he’d do absolutely anything for.
I think the only thing that kept me from giving this the full five stars was the fact that I got really annoyed with Vienna every time something happened within the relationship, she immediately went to the same response every time.
Other than that though, this was a solid fun and entertaining banger. I’m so happy that Jamsu and I got to buddy read this together, and I’m so stoked to read the other titles in Wright’s backlist.
