24 In 2024 Reading Challenge

Is it the middle of February and was I suppose to have this out to you at the beginning of the year? Yes, but like I said in my January Wrap Up–last month was a practice run. This month is when 2024 really kicks in! Last year, I tried and failed at the 12 books, 12 friends challenge and I think that is because I wasn’t the one able to choose the books (which is a buzz kill for anyone who is a mood reader); so this year I’ve decided to try the 24 in 2024 reading challenge. 

The challenge is simple–Choose 24 books to read in the year. I’ve made it a bit harder in the sense that I’ve limited myself to only books I already own or have pre-ordered to own physical copies of. So let’s grab our popcorn, and laugh with me at this insane notion of a listicle that suggests I can accomplish this when I couldn’t do twelve. 👍🏽

The Nightmare In Him By Suzanne Wright 
➡ Second book in The Devil’s Cradle series! FMC is a witch with uncanny abilities, MMC is an ancient older than time. Snark/Sass fest. 

The Way Of Kings by Brandon Sanderson
➡Fantasy novel that is hella thick. My brother is determined to see me read this, so this year is the year. You are welcome John. 

Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros
➡I’ve been edging reading this because I don’t want to wait a year again like last time. Second book in the series. If you are on social media you already know what this is about. 

The Fake Mate by Lana Ferguson
➡I’ve heard nothing but good things about this and I love a good paranormal fake dating romance. I’m just shocked I haven’t read this yet. 

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo
➡This has been sitting on my shelf looking at me for god knows how long. Is it a mystery? Is it a horror/thriller? Is it fantasy? I have no clue but I was in my reputation era when I bought the book from BOTM. 

The Serpent & The Wings Of Night by Carrissa Broadbent
➡This was a book rec’d to me by Katie over on instagram for my 12 friends 12 books reading challenge last year that I just didn’t get too. Romantasy with vampires and (if I’m not mistaken) fae? Yeah, needless to say I own several formats of this duology, so I need to read this. 

Love Redesigned by Lauren Asher
➡I’ve heard so many fun things about this author, and I’m all about an HGTV like romance. I don’t know much further than that about the book, but I own it (and her other books–still haven’t read them); so I’m hoping this will be the push I need to actually binge the author and finish her backlist that I already own. 

Empire Of Sand by Tasha Suri
➡Not going to lie–I got this at Barnes & Noble because I was looking in the fantasy section and said “ooo pretty cover”. I got even more excited when I saw several great reviews from friends and that it has romance in it. Did not realize it was YA though, so there is that. 

King Of Wrath by Ana Huang
➡Literally the same reason as the Lauren Asher book, except I don’t think this has anything to do with HGTV. 

Mafia Virgin by Mila Fineli
➡I need to finish this series! I am a compulsory series starter, but I rarely if ever finish/complete a series. I’m hoping to change that this year, with this fun little romp back into mafia romance territory. This is the fifth book in the King’s of Italy series, and Mila Fineli has me in a CHOKE hold.

Bride By Ali Hazelwood
➡A marriage of convenience paranormal romance from Ali Hazelwood?! Um, yes please! I enjoyed her stem series (though I haven’t finished them yet), and her novellas were perfection, so I am excited and curious to see how well she does away from her comfort genre and STEM. 

Hold Fast By Eliza Macarthur
➡This was a complete cover buy, and the author is immaculate. This is her first time dipping into Historical romance–and we support adventures! 

Ne’er Duke Well by Alexandra Vasti
➡I’m really embracing my historical romance side this year. This is a highly anticipated release for me, because I love the author to pieces. 

Vow Of Revenge by P. Rayne
➡This is the pseudonym name for Piper Rayne for their darker romance novels (mostly mafia so far), and I have yet to branch out and read them! I’m excited and happy to see them exploring these different genres, and I’m hoping beyond hope that I jam well with it. 

Raiders Of The Lost Heart by Jo Segura
➡I’m a big Indiana Jones fan, so the title alone sold me on this. I know nothing else but this and my friends all really liked it.

Mine To Possess by Nalini Singh
➡The fourth book in the Psy-Changeling series! I WILL FINISH THIS SERIES!

 

Flawless By Elsie Silver
➡ Everyone and their mother has been talking about Elsie Silver this past year now, and I really wanna see what the hype is about. From my understanding these are contemporary romances that will have me swooning–sooo sign me up?!

Fangirl Down by Tessa Bailey
➡ I don’t like golf–never have. But I love Tessa Bailey, and I love a good sports romcom where the guy falls for his number one fan. Takes me back to my glory days of swooning over David Beckham. 

The Heir Apparent’s Rejected Mate by Cate C. Wells
➡Another series I am determined to finish this year! I love Cate C. Wells, and I am in love with her five packs series because they almost always give me an insanely good grovel moment from the hero. This is a Rejected Fated Mates shifter romance that I’m told is chef kisses.

Radiant Sin by Katee Robert
➡ Once again, a series I’ve started and fell behind reading. Plain and simple: I need to catch up. I’ve stopped long ago, looking at Katee Robert synopsis because I think I just read her stories for entertainment and vibes–not for the plot. 

A Fate Of Wrath & Flame by K.A. Tucker
➡ Now THIS is a series that I haven’t started yet but own and want to! A duology romantasy, that was popular a few years back I believe. Enemies to lovers, Fae/Elven (not sure which), magic system, and I think some marriage of convenience???

Assistant To The Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer
➡I followed the author of this on Tiktok and am so happy for her that the book got published–I’m just a lame person who is slow on actually reading things when they release. Hoping to read this before her second installment is announced/released. 

A Demon’s Guide To Wooing A Witch by Sarah Hawley
➡ I absolutely ADORED the first book in this series (you can read my review HERE if you don’t believe me). I’m legit caught up with this series except for this book, and I want to keep it that way! This one centers around a witch (Calladia’s story!!) and a demon who forgets he’s a demon. I love this for us.

Choosing Theo by Victoria Aveline
➡ Would I be me if out of all twenty four of these books I didn’t have at least one alien romance? This is supposedly a grumpy ugly duckling romance where the hero is the ugly duckling amongst his kind.
