Julia Quinn has become this oasis of escapism for me lately, and the second installment of the beloved Bridgerton series, The Viscount Who Loved Me, is like the cherry on top of the fictional sundae. Full of wit, sexual tension, and hilarious competitions that had me quoting moments to this day. This is a story you truly don’t want to pass on.

1814 promises to be another eventful season, but not, This Author believes, for Anthony Bridgerton, London’s most elusive bachelor, who has shown no indication that he plans to marry. And in all truth, why should he? When it comes to playing the consummate rake, nobody does it better…
–Lady Whistledown’s Society Papers, April 1814
But this time the gossip columnists have it wrong. Anthony Bridgerton hasn’t just decided to marry–he’s even chosen a wife! The only obstacle is his intended’s older sister, Kate Sheffield–the most meddlesome woman ever to grace a London ballroom. The spirited schemer is driving Anthony mad with her determination to stop the betrothal, but when he closes his eyes at night, Kate’s the woman haunting his increasingly erotic dreams…
Contrary to popular belief, Kate is quite sure that reformed rakes to not make the best husbands–and Anthony Bridgerton is the most wicked rogue of them all. Kate’s determined to protect her sister–but she fears her own heart is vulnerable. And when Anthony’s lips touch hers, she’s suddenly afraid she might not be able to resist the reprehensible rake herself…
“Love’s about finding the one person who makes your heart complete… Its about looking in the eyes of your wife and knowing all the way to your bones that she’s simply the best person you’ve ever known.”
If the fact that I chose to finish reading this story over watching an episode of my favorite Turkish dramedy say anything about how much I enjoyed this story and these characters—than I don’t know what will.
Anthony is the asshole you can’t help but fall in love with. The one guys you absolutely despise to love and want to gag every time your heart skips a beat. Kate on the other hand, is the character you can’t help but give a standing ovation to (especially when she goes toe to toe with a certain Bridgerton). Being a lady who has gone through some things and ultimately lives in the shadow of her younger sister, Edwina—Kate isn’t here for anyones games or bullshit; both those things Anthony is the master of.
Julia Quinn has become this oasis of escapism for me lately, and the second installment of the beloved Bridgerton series is like the cherry on top of the fictional sundae. Just a few chapters into the story I was captivated and hollering with laughter and giggles as Anthony and Kate went into one of their legendary squabbles and challenges. Quinn has mastered the tit for tat dialogue and chemistry between each of these characters, it was these subtle touches and moments that made everything come to life for me.
If you haven’t met the Bridgertons yet, I highly highly recommend you do! These characters have become like a second family to me, and I honestly cannot wait to read the rest of the series!

I have been on such a romance spree ever since lockdown started and while I prefer YA books, I might just pick this one up after reading your review! I am glad you liked it!
I definitely agree, this author is the perfect escape especially with how challenging reality is for all of us. I adore Anthony and Kate together, their bantering is phenomenal and I swear the Pall Mall Scene I re read every year when I need a energy boost.
