What is the Bastard Bachelor Society?
It’s a gentleman’s club—like the dignified men of the past used to have.
Except, we’re not gentleman, and we’re not dignified.
We’re ineligible bachelors; bored, jaded and not looking for relationships. Quite the opposite actually…
We’re so committed to being single, we’ve created a high stakes bet to see who can remain single the longest. Rules are involved. Prizes.
Laugh it up, but I’m no loser.
Enemy number one to my single status? My irresistible neighbor, Abbott Margolis. She with her evil cat Desdemona, and Sexy AF pencil skirts. She’s kind and beautiful and hilarious. We can’t get involved, no matter how much her meddling grandmother pushes us together. But if I was going to lose this bet for anyone? It would be for Abbott.
Let’s face facts: I’m a bastard, unwilling to settle down. Especially when there’s a bet to win.

New series alert from author Sara Ney! Bastard Bachelor Society is a new romantic comedy that will for sure have you falling off your chair with laughter. The story follows marketing VP, Abbott, and her insanely hilarious meet cute relationship with her neighbor, Brooks, who just created a society with his friends that has a rule above all other rules: No Dating.
To make sure the society members are committed to this rule, the group creates a bet of epic proportions. So you date a girl–you lose the bet. Simple and catastrophic as that. However, Abbott is alluring as she is fun to be around, and Brooks can’t seem to stay away from the girl across the hall.
Even though this wasn’t my favorite release from Ney (Douchebag series will forever be a bop in my eyes), I still really enjoyed my time reading this novel. A signature with Ney’s books, the banter and chemistry between our Heroine, Abbott, and our Hero, Brooks, was hilarious and swoon worthy. I loved their interactions and the way that their relationship grew throughout the course of the book.
The supporting cast as always kept things interesting for me when I felt like the plot slowed in some areas, which was great for pulling me back into the story and keeping me engaged the entire time. Abbott’s grandmother, Nan, is probably by far my favorite person in this novel hands down, as she is sassy and the cause of me choking on most of my grape juice during my time reading.
Much like, Nan, I absolutely adored our heroine, Abbott. I connected with her from the very beginning, and looked forward to reading in her point of view. However, I cannot say the same for our hero. I think it took me the longest to even start tolerating Brooks, and it wasn’t until close to the end where I began to truly invest in his side of the story.
All in all, I am excited to see what else this world will bring. Sara Ney is a romcom genius and this neighbor/friends to lovers romance is testament to her way with words. I was left giggling and swooning by the end of this novel. So if you are looking for a quick, entertaining romance–I recommend giving this one a go!
