Happy Wednesday Storytellers! I’m super excited to be continuing WWW Wednesdays here on the blog as a way to saddle more of that bookish chit chat that I’ve missed having with you all! If you don’t know what WWW Wednesdays are–it’s a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words, in which you answer these three simple questions:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
The Speed of Falling Objects
Author: Nancy Richardson Fischer | Genre: Contemporary, YA | Publish date: October 1st 2019

When her dad calls with an offer to join him to film the next episode of his popular survivalist show, Danny jumps at the chance to prove she’s not the disappointment he left behind. But when their small plane crashes in the Amazon, and a terrible secret is revealed, Danny must face the truth about the parent she worships and falling for Gus, and find her own inner strength and worth to light the way home.
Much like last week, November is ARC Mountain demolition month and this bad boy has been sitting prettily on my ARC shelf for a hot minute. Just started listening to this one at work so fingers crossed it lives up to the synopsis because ya girl is intrigued!
Demise of a Self-Centered Playboy
Author: Piper Rayne | Genre: Romance, Contemporary, Rom-com | Publish date: November 19th 2019

The signs were there, they always are. But I didn’t notice them until it was too late, and my demise was complete.
Demise Sign #1 – You find yourself thrust into the land of responsibility and you don’t immediately hightail it out of town.
Demise Sign #2 – Despite being stuck with the world’s biggest Jekyll & Hyde, some sadistic part of you actually enjoys spending time with her.
Demise Sign #3 – Your family suddenly stops wanting to weigh in on every decision in your life.
Demise Sign #4 – Somehow you end up being the voice of reason in your tumultuous partnership.
Demise Sign #5 – You start thinking of other people before yourself.
Demise Sign #6 – You agree to put yourself in the middle of an Alaskan reality TV show that has both of you sleeping in the same tent.
Demise Complete.
I have no other words except I’m only 4% in and already in love.
This is completely fine.
His Mimosa
Author: Jamie Schlosser | Genre: Contemporary Romance | Publish date: June 1st 2018

Brynne’s optimism and unfailing faith in love is a breath of fresh air, and it makes him think maybe he’s had it wrong all along.
They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. And Carter’s heart? It might be taking up permanent residence there.
This was another Read Me Romance audiobook and one I really enjoyed, it was my first of Schlosser’s work but I enjoyed the writing and the characters in this novella enough that I am heavily considering waddling towards her other books as soon as ARC Mountain is demolished!
The Memory Thief
Author: Lauren Mansy | Genre: Fantasy, YA | Publish date: October 1st 2019

Seventeen-year-old Etta Lark is desperate to live outside of the corrupt culture, but grapples with the guilt of an accident that has left her mother bedridden in the city’s asylum. When Madame threatens to put her mother up for auction, a Craewick practice in which a “criminal’s” memories are sold to the highest bidder before being killed, Etta will do whatever it takes to save her. Even if it means rejoining the Shadows, the rebel group she swore off in the wake of the accident years earlier.
To prove her allegiance to the Shadows and rescue her mother, Etta must steal a memorized map of the Maze, a formidable prison created by the bloodthirsty ruler of a neighboring Realm. So she sets out on a journey in which she faces startling attacks, unexpected romance, and, above all, her own past in order to set things right in her world.
Part of ARC Mountain, this one caught me by surprise! I really enjoyed listening and reading this hidden gem more than I thought I was going to. I did find it a little predictable and “too easy” towards the end that kind of brought me out of the story, but other than that I thought it was a super solid read! The Grace Year
Author: Kim Liggett | Genre: Science Fiction, YA | Publish date: October 8th 2019

“A visceral, darkly haunting fever dream of a novel and an absolute page-turner. Liggett’s deeply suspenseful book brilliantly explores the high cost of a misogynistic world that denies women power and does it with a heart-in-your-throat, action-driven story that’s equal parts horror-laden fairy tale, survival story, romance, and resistance manifesto. I couldn’t stop reading.” – Libba Bray, New York Times bestselling author
Survive the year.
No one speaks of the grace year. It’s forbidden.
In Garner County, girls are told they have the power to lure grown men from their beds, to drive women mad with jealousy. They believe their very skin emits a powerful aphrodisiac, the potent essence of youth, of a girl on the edge of womanhood. That’s why they’re banished for their sixteenth year, to release their magic into the wild so they can return purified and ready for marriage. But not all of them will make it home alive.
Sixteen-year-old Tierney James dreams of a better life—a society that doesn’t pit friend against friend or woman against woman, but as her own grace year draws near, she quickly realizes that it’s not just the brutal elements they must fear. It’s not even the poachers in the woods, men who are waiting for a chance to grab one of the girls in order to make a fortune on the black market. Their greatest threat may very well be each other.
With sharp prose and gritty realism, The Grace Year examines the complex and sometimes twisted relationships between girls, the women they eventually become, and the difficult decisions they make in-between.
This one is still on the imminent TBR but it will be consumed soon!
King
Author: T.M. Frazier | Genre: Dark Romance | Publish date: June 15th 2015

Doe has no memories of who she is or where she comes from.
A notorious career criminal just released from prison, King is someone you don’t want to cross unless you’re prepared to pay him back in blood, sweat, pu$$y or a combination of all three.
King’s future hangs in the balance. Doe’s is written in her past. When they come crashing together, they will have to learn that sometimes in order to hold on, you have to first let go.
Warning: This book contains graphic violence, consensual and nonconsensual sex, drug use, abuse, and other taboo subjects and adult subject matter. Although originally slated to be a standalone, KING is now a two part series.
This is my reward for knocking out a nice chunk of ARC Mountain these past two months. Recommended by the lovely, Ruby @ Ruby’s Books, I’m excited to dive into the audiobook of this over the weekend and get properly mind blown.
I can’t wait to see your review for The Grace Year, I’m wavering on it… Also now I want to read the Piper Rayne book!! 😂
