What even is an intro when you have Blogoween to talk about?!
If you have been floating around the book blog community as well as the bookish community on Twitter, you would have more than likely have seen news that an amazing bookish event is taking place for the month of October for Book bloggers and if you follow me on twitter (which I highly think you should because I’m a meme/gif loving gem, *coughs* @sammers65 *coughs*) you’d know I’m pretty stupid excited for it. A bunch of my friends have already presented the event on their blogs and today is my turn to spread pumpkin spice and spooky info with all of you glorious story tellers!
WHAT IS BLOGOWEEN?
Funny you should mention it! Blogoween is basically the Halloween/Autumn version of Blogmas! If you don’t know what Blogmas is, do not fear! I have all the answers (well some of them, I’m still trying to figure out how to grow money on trees)! Blogmas–or Blogoween in this instance, is basically a month-long event co-organized by the lovely Clo @ Book Dragons and myself, and hosted by several amazing book bloggers; where we put up posts and prompts that surround and are related to either Halloween or Autumn!
Like every event, we do have some guidelines that we would like you to follow:
- ONLY Halloween/Autumn themed posts allowed
- Book Reviews MUST be Halloween/Autumn themed OR Horror/Paranormal/Thriller/Crime/Mystery in genre
- Can use Hosts prompts (if you want, totally up to you)
- Feel free to create your own prompts JUST check the list further down to make sure yours isn’t similar to one of the hosts’.
INTERESTED?
OMG YES! BLOGOWEEN IS THRIVING WITH YOUR INTEREST TO TAKE PART!! Honestly Blogoween is going to be super fun and/or super chill depending on the level you choose! But before we get into different levels, I must kindly ask you to fill out the sign up form here, which just lets us know that you are participating so me and the other hosts can shower you with pumpkin spice and love during the blogoween season!
Now to levels–levels are literally just a way to say how much you want to participate in Blogoween. In total, there are three levels:
LEVEL 1
13 days of Blogoween
- Pick any 13 days to post
- Don’t have to be consecutive
- Don’t have to post on Halloween (but you can!)
LEVEL 2
Pumpkin and Spice
- Must post on the 24th Oct through to the 31st Oct (that’s 7 posts)
- Must be consecutive posts
- Must post on Halloween
- Can’t change level
LEVEL 3
Ghosted
- Posting EVERY DAY (that’s 31 posts)
- Can mix Autumn themes into your posts
- If you find within the first few days it’s too much, can switch to Level 1
You can choose any one of these three levels, I have personally decided to take up my state’s motto and go big so I’ll be taking part in Ghosted, which is level 3. Please keep in mind though, that not all of our hosts are all doing level 3!! Like you all, we are a nice bag of trail mix!
WHO ARE THE HOSTS?
OMG! These are literally the greatest people I have ever had the pleasure of getting to know and talk to! They are the best pumpkins in the pumpkin patch and I would 10/10 recommend you follow them immediately!

WHAT DO I POST?
This is the greatest part of it all! You can literally do whatever you want as long as it’s Halloween or Autumn related/themed. To help you out some more this can be seen as tags, discussions, reviews, lists, etc.
If you feel out of ideas or don’t know what to post–DON’T WORRY! That’s where we as hosts come in! Each day one of our hosts will have a prompt for you that you can use! Each prompt will go live by 10AM UK time.
If you do use our posts/prompts we do have some guidelines that we ask you follow:
- You can’t post before Hosts prompt date (e.g if you like a prompt that is supposed to go live on the 12th you cannot post said prompt before the 12th)
- Must link back to hosts prompt post
- You can post prompt AFTER Hosts prompt date (e.g if the post you want to do is set to go live on the 15th you can post that prompt any time on or after the 15th)
- You can post the prompt on the same day as Hosts if you want
Now, if you are like me and love to plan ahead and the scheduler is your best friend than I have great news for you! Our official prompt list has been released! Keep reading to see what each of the hosts has planned for October!

Tuesday 9th
Bookish Monster Bender
You’re transported in various book but a bad surprise awaits you. Everything is horror and death, because a monster version has taken over the story.
Prompt objective is to do a monster bender version of book characters. You can choose who you want and imagine a dark horror version of their novel (you can add or not your ideas about the horror – re-written blurb or “how things went wrong”) and themselves. But the main thing to do is create a monster out of bookish characters. I suggest you look up on the internet a bit of the video game Bloodborne monster aesthetic for inspiration. Oh, and don’t hesitate to add yourself to the scenery, survival weapons included. Or die.
Wednesday 10th
Local Supernaturals Who Demand A Book
Share your local stories of ghosts, supernaturals and what happens round your area. Either where you live, or nearby; can also share your own personal scary experience. These are the stories which you think, deserve their own novel – could add a blurb to the story. Can share as many stories as you wish as long they’re: horror/supernatural/scary/ghostly etc.

The Veil Is Thin
The 31st Oct is supposed to be a day when the veil between our world and the other world, is at it’s thinnest. As such, it was originally a day to ward of evil spirits; what spirits are you hoping to ward off? (e.g. paranormal characters, evil characters, writers block, procrastination etc.)
