WWW Wednesdays | December 4th

Happy Wednesday Storytellers! I’m super excited to be continuing WWW Wednesdays here on the blog as a way to saddle more of that bookish chit chat that I’ve missed having with you all! If you don’t know what WWW Wednesdays are–it’s a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words, in which you answer these three simple questions:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Lawless

Author: T.M. Frazier | Genre: Dark Romance | Publish date: December 8th 2015

Lawless (King, #3)Thia is prim and proper.
Bear is leather and lawless.
It will never work between them.
It’s a lie they almost believe…

It is necessary to first read King and Tyrant to fully enjoy Lawless.

Third book in the King series that follows the story of Bear after everything that went down in Tyrant (gotta read the first two before this one fam). This is a Buddy Read with the amazing Ruby over at Ruby’s books. I’ve got 2 hours left of this bad boy and lets just say–this shit is WILD.

Whiteout

Author: Adriana Anders | Genre: Romantic Suspense | Publish date: January 28th 2020

Whiteout (Survival Instincts, #1)Angel Smith is ready to leave Antarctica for a second chance at life. But on what was meant to be her final day, the research station is attacked. Hunted and scared, she and glaciologist Ford Cooper barely make it out with their lives…only to realize that in a place this remote, there’s nowhere left to run.

Isolated in the middle of a long, frozen winter with a madman at their heels, they must fight to survive in the most inhospitable—and beautiful—place on earth. But the outside world depends on what Ford and Angel know and, as their pursuers close in and their new partnership burns bright and hot, they will stop at nothing to make it out of the cold alive.

This is going to be my first romantic suspense book and based off the tid bits and reaction texts I’ve been getting from my friend Ruby–I’m really excited to binge this bad boy tonight!

Circe

Author: Madeline Miller | Genre: YA Fantasy, Mythology | Publish date: April 10th 2018

CirceIn the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of the Titans, a daughter is born. But Circe is a strange child—not powerful, like her father, nor viciously alluring like her mother. Turning to the world of mortals for companionship, she discovers that she does possess power—the power of witchcraft, which can transform rivals into monsters and menace the gods themselves.

Threatened, Zeus banishes her to a deserted island, where she hones her occult craft, tames wild beasts and crosses paths with many of the most famous figures in all of mythology, including the Minotaur, Daedalus and his doomed son Icarus, the murderous Medea, and, of course, wily Odysseus.

But there is danger, too, for a woman who stands alone, and Circe unwittingly draws the wrath of both men and gods, ultimately finding herself pitted against one of the most terrifying and vengeful of the Olympians. To protect what she loves most, Circe must summon all her strength and choose, once and for all, whether she belongs with the gods she is born from, or the mortals she has come to love.

I haven’t read anything since my last WWW update, so we are gonna keep this on here.

The Grace Year

Author: Kim Liggett | Genre: Science Fiction, YA | Publish date: October 8th 2019

The Grace YearA speculative thriller in the vein of The Handmaid’s Tale and The Power. Optioned by Universal and Elizabeth Banks to be a major motion picture!

“A visceral, darkly haunting fever dream of a novel and an absolute page-turner. Liggett’s deeply suspenseful book brilliantly explores the high cost of a misogynistic world that denies women power and does it with a heart-in-your-throat, action-driven story that’s equal parts horror-laden fairy tale, survival story, romance, and resistance manifesto. I couldn’t stop reading.” – Libba Bray, New York Times bestselling author

Survive the year.

No one speaks of the grace year. It’s forbidden.

In Garner County, girls are told they have the power to lure grown men from their beds, to drive women mad with jealousy. They believe their very skin emits a powerful aphrodisiac, the potent essence of youth, of a girl on the edge of womanhood. That’s why they’re banished for their sixteenth year, to release their magic into the wild so they can return purified and ready for marriage. But not all of them will make it home alive.

Sixteen-year-old Tierney James dreams of a better life—a society that doesn’t pit friend against friend or woman against woman, but as her own grace year draws near, she quickly realizes that it’s not just the brutal elements they must fear. It’s not even the poachers in the woods, men who are waiting for a chance to grab one of the girls in order to make a fortune on the black market. Their greatest threat may very well be each other.

With sharp prose and gritty realism, The Grace Year examines the complex and sometimes twisted relationships between girls, the women they eventually become, and the difficult decisions they make in-between.

This one is still on the imminent TBR but it will be consumed soon! AND I MEAN IT THIS TIME. I’VE GOT THE AUDIOBOOK AND EVERYTHING!
