Sometimes lady luck shakes your hand, and sometimes she smacks your face. Sometimes she does both on the same day.
Three years ago I met the most amazing girl in the world. We were both down on our luck. Then I got that call—the one that tells you to get your buns on a plane to go meet your destiny.
But the girl was left behind. I didn’t have her phone number, and she didn’t know my real name.
While I became a professional hockey player, she became a superstar, with platinum records and legions of fans. And a slick, music producer boyfriend who treated her badly.
But fate wasn’t done with us yet. When Delilah turns up at a hockey game, I can’t resist making contact. The internet swoons when I ask her out on a date.
She might not remember me. But her jerkface ex does. He’ll do anything to keep us apart.
Good thing athletes never give up. This time I’m playing for keeps.

Its no secret how much I love the Brooklyn series by Sarina Bowen and this new installment is no exception! Superfan tells the story of our well known and loved character Silas a hockey player for the bruisers and Delilah Spark–a platinum recording artist whose past can’t seem to let her go.
This book is a complete swoon fest where a nice guy meets a girls haunted by her past, all to firm in her belief that all the nice guys have died or have never existed in the first place. Silas is probably my favorite part about this book as readers of the series are given a chance to see him in a different light and way than in the previous books. Kind, charming, and funny with a nice dirty side–Silas made me swoon more times than I’d like to count. The guy could be just sitting on the beach and ya girl was catching feelings.
Delilah’s character is probably the most different and complex out of all Bowen’s female heroines. Determined to not let her past define her, Delilah pushes the boundaries to get what she wants in life and never backs down. I honestly admired her courage and bravery throughout this novel as she faced personal issues and her past head on within these pages. The growth I saw within her as she began to learn to trust Silas was admirable and such a joy to witness.
Superfan 1The pace of the story felt consistent and steady as the writing style began to lend to almost taking on a different tone from Bowen’s other works. However, with that being said, I did struggle at the beginning to get into the story as the back and forth between past and present got a bit confusing, but once we finally landed permanently into the present I was sucked in from the get-go!
With breathtaking writing and steamy moments that will have a nun blush, Superfan is definitely a captivating read and a high recommendation for anyone looking for a contemporary romance between an athlete and a musician.
