May Book Haul || The Month Where Kindle Deals Were My Downfall

I swore to myself that May’s haul was gonna be a real small one. At the end of April I said to myself: “sam–you got a crap ton of ARCs to read. Don’t get any books“. At the time my inner self was all kinds of game for the plan of action; and we were cruising down the nopeville of book buying land. But then I kicked the reading slump’s ass…
And that is when it happened.
CaptureI swear it was like the universe conspired against me and made all of my favorites that I’ve read before but didn’t own go on sale! AND THEN, almost every single book that I had on my “want to get but probably shouldn’t cause wow bills” shelf WENT ON DUCKING SALE TOO. You know the worst part about Kindle sales? You never truly realize how much you spend and how much they add up, because you can’t add the e-books to a cart–you can only one-click them.
So in the end, you are seeing these deals for $2.99 USD and lower and your like “oh shit that’s a snag! I gotta get this!” with the intention of only spending 10 maybe 15 bucks on these sales; but by the time you come out of the book sale coma–consciousness returns to you as your kindle rejoices in it’s new friends. But by that time, you see the damage you did to your credit card that you just paid off and…

Yup…That is where I am at now.
So grab some popcorn and take a look at what I did in my kindle deal haze.

As always, before I get into the bounty of which my kindle and shelves cry out to in joy, let me preface this with I am a super frugal andย hella cheapย person. Mostโ€“if not allโ€“ of my purchases were deals from bookbub.com, amazon, audible, etc. which amounted to many of them being free, as well as through my carefully thought out monthly book budget as I have placed reading and supporting authors and the arts a priority when planning my personal finances. With that being said, take a look at my walk of shamelessness.

God do you have a lot of books Sam! I own a total of like 20 books on my Kindle and to see you buy 30 + books on your Kindle in a month makes me think I don’t use mine enough.
(now I’m going to use you buying these many books to make my mom buy me more books)
    Hope you enjoy reading these!

Oh! There are a bunch of books I have too! Aurora Rising of course.. though you stlil have one copy, I did get another in an Illumicrate box, Caraval (maybe you want to buddy read that sometimes?), Again, but better, The Priory of the Orange Tree (I should start that someday but I’m still too intimidated), and I have Pride! That one was included in Fairyloot or Owlcrate, I’m not sure which one (oops). Oh and I have an ARC of The Phantom Forest! But honestly.. all these books for 75 bucks.. I applaud you, because I can’t keep to a budget to save my life ๐Ÿ˜‰
I really hope you enjoy all of these books!! Let me know if you want to read one together ๐Ÿ™‚

I swear that Kindle deals for the last like 2 weeks of so have been conspiring against me. IT IS A CONSPIRACY! You got so many amazing books though and holy crap… 43 of them. FORTY THREE. In the scheme of things you didn’t spend that much considering you got so many books
    Happy reading, love!

Kindle sales are definitely a conspiracy, they catch you off guard and ambush you in packs. unbelievable. and totally unfair.
on the plus side, at least you’ve already read and enjoyed some of them! I’ve been looking forward to Aurora Rising and Again, But Better; I’m currently (slowly) reading Priory and enjoyed the Caraval trilogy. I hope you get to actually read and enjoy all of these in the near future!

never has anything been more of a mood than your first paragraph. BIG MOOD.
oooo! I can’t wait to here how you like Priory! I read the sampler of it before it’s release and enjoyed what I read from that (I think the first 75 pages?) so I’m interested to see your take on the book!

Caraval was a bop with the world building, I didn’t really like the characters all that much save for Julian. I want to get Again, But Better at some point AND I’m waiting impatiently for 2020 when the paperback edition for Orange and the Priory Tree comes out *hysterically sobs*
*pats your credit card* I feel like I don’t ever want a credit card because wow, would I just start buying books here, there and everywhere xD

oooo Caraval is sounding more and more intriguing (though the character part makes my heart dim). DUDE I WOULD BE SO OVER THAT PB EDITION IF IT WAS RELEASED NOW.
And me having a cc is a cruel test from the gods on my self control…one that I fail miserably on lmao
