ENDGAME IS OUT TODAY AND I CANNOT CONTROL MY EMOTIONS.
I don’t see it until tomorrow (hardcore fans sold out the theater closest to me, but luckily I got seats for the butt crack of dawn showing), so PLEASE DO NOT SPOIL ME IN THE COMMENT SECTION! Do it in my Twitter DMs because I’m trash for spoilers and don’t want anyone else to get spoiled involuntarily.
May is going to be a bop month for the publishing world my friends, probably not so much for your wallets–but hey! Your bookshelves will scream of joy as your unread books judge you silently…or loudly, I don’t know their lives.
Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff (May 7)
From the New York Times and internationally bestselling authors of the Illuminae Files comes a new science fiction epic…
The year is 2380, and the graduating cadets of Aurora Academy are being assigned their first missions. Star pupil Tyler Jones is ready to recruit the squad of his dreams, but his own boneheaded heroism sees him stuck with the dregs nobody else in the academy would touch…
A cocky diplomat with a black belt in sarcasm
A sociopath scientist with a fondness for shooting her bunkmates
A smart-ass tech whiz with the galaxy’s biggest chip on his shoulder
An alien warrior with anger-management issues
A tomboy pilot who’s totally not into him, in case you were wondering
And Ty’s squad isn’t even his biggest problem—that’d be Aurora Jie-Lin O’Malley, the girl he’s just rescued from interdimensional space. Trapped in cryo-sleep for two centuries, Auri is a girl out of time and out of her depth. But she could be the catalyst that starts a war millions of years in the making, and Tyler’s squad of losers, discipline cases, and misfits might just be the last hope for the entire galaxy.
Fam, this is probably the world’s most highly anticipated novel in 2019. It’s like the Endgame of the book world–EVERYONE NEEDS IT. Literally cannot express to you how stoked I am to get my grubby little hands on this piece of genius. I don’t know what else to say other than–GO GET YOU A COPY FAM.
Boyfriend Bargain by Ilsa Madden-Mills (May 5)
Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills returns with an all-new swoon-fest of a novel about what happens when you take a chance on love.
Wanted: one hot guy with rock-hard abs and a big stick.
Broke and desperate, Sugar Ryan has no use for arrogant, bad boy athletes . . . until she’s forced to bargain with the cockiest of them all.
If only he knew she was alive.
Her mission? Get on this hockey player’s radar any way possible.
Zack Morgan is the king of the ice and the bedroom—but nothing prepares him for the mystery girl who shows up everywhere he does—frat parties, his favorite bar, and finally his front door with an offer he can’t refuse. The only rule in her boyfriend bargain: no falling in love.
But after one (um, two) smoking-hot hookups, he’s done with pretending and vows to make their fake relationship real. Too bad she can’t trust a player with a reputation for breaking hearts.
Will this hockey star score his forever girl or will their Boyfriend Bargain end in heartbreak?
I love me some Ilsa Madden-Mills, ever since I read her novel, Fake Fiancee, I have been hooked on her stories. Quick, fun, and sassy–Ilsa never deters me and always keeps me smiling. Super stoked to read this new world and from these new characters!
The Lying Hours by Sara Ney (May 9)
ABRAHAM DAVIS—Honest Abe to his friends—IS IN OVER HIS HEAD…
He’s a fixer and a do good-er. The all-knowing, resident “grandfather” on the wrestling team who everyone relies on to fix their problems. His teammates go to him for everything; advice, homework, or when they need a sober driver at three in the morning–whether he likes it or not.
Abe’s current mission is easy: mend his roommates broken heart by helping him find a girlfriend on the LoveU app–without getting caught in the lie…
SKYLAR GABRIEL. IS. OVER. IT.
Over her bad grades. Over her meddling older brother and his two best friends. And over dating douchebags. What she wants to know is: where have all the nice guys gone?
She longs for a handsome, sweet, and honest guy who can make her laugh. In one last ditch effort to prove that he exists—Skylar turns to LoveU.
On her worst day, Skylar has no filter (it’s a miracle she hasn’t been ditched mid-date).
On her best, she’s as wholesome, and sweet, as pie.
On Thursday? She matches with Abraham Davis’s roommate.
Skylar Gabriel is falling for the wrong guy—she just doesn’t realize it yet.
BECAUSE ABE DAVIS IS A LIAR.
I am trash for Sara Ney. There I said it. That is literally all you need to know.

But fear of corruption — fear of becoming another Rielle — keeps Eliana’s power dangerous and unpredictable. I’ve own Furyborn since it’s release last year, and I have yet to read it. However, I did meet Claire at my cities version of bookcon this year (yes she did sign my copy of Furyborn 😲) and she completely sold me on her series, I was captivated by the details she shared of her writing experience and how this story unfolded for her. So this is why this is on my most anticipated releases when I haven’t even begun the series…A good pitch is really all it takes. Truly a time.
Fingers crossed I get around to reading the first before this gem is released!
Going Off Script by Jen Wilde (May 21)
A TV writer’s room intern must join forces with her crush to keep her boss from ruining a lesbian character in this diverse contemporary YA romance from the author of Queens of Geek.
Seventeen-year-old Bex is thrilled when she gets an internship on her favorite tv show, Silver Falls. Unfortunately, the internship isn’t quite what she expected… instead of sitting in a crowded writer’s room volleying ideas back and forth, Production Interns are stuck picking up the coffee.
Determined to prove her worth as a writer, Bex drafts her own script and shares it with the head writer―who promptly reworks it and passes it off as his own! Bex is understandably furious, yet…maybe this is just how the industry works? But when they rewrite her proudly lesbian character as straight, that’s the last straw! It’s time for Bex and her crush to fight back.
Jen Wilde’s newest novel is both a fun, diverse love story and a very relevant, modern take on the portrayal of LGBT characters in media.
I LOVE JEN WILDE AND THIS BOOK IS LITERALLY RIGHT UP IN MY WHEEL HOUSE OF THINGS I LOVE! Scriptwriting? LGBTQIA+ content? Some one grab me a pen and sign me the duck up! ❤
Girl Gone Viral by Arvin Ahmadi (May 21)
The inventive and hauntingly timely story of a seventeen-year-old coder’s catapult to stardom, reminiscent of The Social Network with a Ready Player One twist.
For seventeen-year-old Opal Hopper, code is magic. She builds entire worlds from scratch: Mars craters, shimmering lakes, any virtual experience her heart desires.
But she can’t code her dad back into her life. When he disappeared after her tenth birthday, leaving only a cryptic note, Opal tried desperately to find him. And when he never turned up, she enrolled at a boarding school for technical prodigies and tried to forget.
Until now. Because WAVE, the world’s biggest virtual reality platform, has announced a contest where the winner gets to meet its billionaire founder. The same billionaire who worked closely with Opal’s dad. The one she always believed might know where he went. The one who maybe even murdered him.
What begins as a small data hack to win the contest spirals out of control when Opal goes viral, digging her deeper into a hole of lies, hacks, and manipulation. How far will Opal go for the answers–or is it the attention–she’s wanted for years?
When I read this synopsis, it screamed This Mortal Coil vibes. I love me a good Science Fiction book, especially when it revolves around female coders. So, needless to say I am super excited to get my hands on this gem!
What books are you excited for in May? Let me know!
