Not A Book Blogging Newbie Tag
Happy Friday storytellers! I am super late (like wayyyyy late) with this, but I completely forgot that my blogiversary was a thing! On January 4, 2018 (told you I was late) Fictionally Sam was created with the full intention of being my corner of the internet to gush about the thing I love the most–storytelling. And on February 28th of that same year, I started actively posting and publishing content within this little cubicle of the wold.
Since it’s birth, I have learned so much about myself, the publishing industry, the romance industry, the book community, and have also made some friendships that I firmly believe will stay with me for the rest of time. I am so grateful for this blog and the amazing opportunities I have been given through this avenue.
So with Fictionally Sam’s birthday in mind, I thought it would be fun to do a tag! Originally this tag was created for booktube by Shelby but I found this gem over on Heather @ The Frozen Book Blog which was low key re-did for the book blogging world!
1. How old is your blog?
Two! My baby is a full blown toddler and has embarked into the terrible two stage.
2. What are your favorite posts to make?
My favorite posts to write are the ones that usually involve a bucket load of research or the ones that I get to word vomit. I love gathering intel and learning new things, so when I get the chance to combine that with my passion for storytelling–I’m in one huge happy dance sequence.

I am guilty of being lazy and even have some cases where editing goes out the window. Because of this, I really love my word vomit posts where I can express my thoughts in an almost stream of consciousness-esque way. I find my inner Faulkner and just go to town!
3. What is one piece of advice you would give to someone wanting to start a book blog?
Jump in and do it, honestly this is probably the best decision I made after leaving booktube. The people are amazing and you will find your corner of the internet to be a safe place to create and share with other amazing like-minded bookworms. Don’t worry about looks, what others are doing, etc. Just start.
4. Since joining have you run into any unforeseen challenges?
Maintaining a schedule is a beast–and not the Disney fun kind. Keeping up a posting schedule and marketing myself has become something of a challenge for me, because 1) you never really realize how busy life is until you give yourself a deadline and 2) I really suck at self-marketing and putting myself and my content out there.
5. What is a favorite book/series you’ve read because of blogging?
The Mortal Coil series by Emily Suvada. If it wasn’t for one of my closest bookish friend ranting, raving, and all but throwing this book at me; I wouldn’t have picked it up and I wouldn’t have fallen head of heals for this incredible trilogy. A mind blowing and gripping Science fiction tale of genetics and coding that had me staying up at all ends of the night and desperately trying to find spoilers of what happens to my children. Speaking of, I still need to read the last one…
6. Overall, what is your favorite aspect about book blogging?
This is literally said every time someone asks this question, but it is true! The Community is my favorite part alongside the ability I have to just purge. Everyone and their mothers here are one of the most loving and supportive people I know. I just can’t see life without these gems in it anymore.
And because I can’t just pick one thing, I also love my ability to be creative and express myself through one of my favorite mediums. This platform has given me the chance to grow into my passion of storytelling and share that love with the world in a way that has become like my own personal therapy. Plus, writing silly posts are hella cathartic.
7. Want to spread the book blogger love? Give at least one newbie a shout out!
I am the literal worst and don’t know of any newbies, but these are some of the blogs I have recently found that I’m loving!
If you know any newbies, drop them in the comments of this post and show them some love!
8. Who do you tag?
